About this listen

Left a bequest by a woman with rare psychic powers, Eada of Pevensey suddenly finds herself in possession of a box containing a mysterious document...and something even more extraordinary: the gift of second sight. Now she can actually "see" her chilling fate: a Norman invader with sea-dark eyes riding across the fields to claim her lands...and her love.

A reluctant soldier for William the Conquerer, Drogo de Toulon seizes the Pevensey lands as a right of conquest...and meets a woman who defies him at every turn - and arouses uncontrollable desire. Yet now, as war rages across a divided England, the two lovers must find the bond that joins body and soul...as they chart a course through battle and betrayal that could break their hearts - or seal their passion for all time.

Contains mature themes.

Good until chapter 24

Story was good until the last 30 minutes and then became just 🤮 one of the dumbest things in a book

Good book, BUT

This was a very good book, but the FMC got on my nerves with her utter stupidity!! Other than that, very good book!!

it was a good read except

This was a good book. The last 2 characters are eye roll worthy but otherwise I liked the whole of the book.

great storyline. this is my favorite historical romance of the Norman period.

Very little historical accuracy. Very little reference to the world around the story. Damn I love this story though. There are firm good guys and bad guys and an easy storyline to get swept up in. It's a favorite guilty pleasure...

So great! A little long towards the end

I’d call this open door 🔥🔥🔥/5
I’ve struggled to finish half of the books I begin, so the fact that I completed this one says a lot.
The story is very well written and interesting storyline, the only complaint I have is still that the will-he/wont-he conflict is too long to the end.
And the narrator is excellent.

Good story

I like the twist and turns on this book, but I didn’t like reason for her leaving in the end. I would have like an epilogue at the end. I enjoyed the light read.

Norman Invasion Romance

I expected with this author and this backstory to be fully engaged and I surely was delighted.

Surprisingly,

I was surprised I wasn’t too over thrilled with the ending. I think an epilogue should’ve been added, especially since they had all those dependents, but it was actually better than I expected it to be minus the multitude of intimate scenes, but at least a story went behind all of it this time compared to other books where it just seems to be the main focus point

Not my favorite

While I Sam a fan of Ma. Howell’s stories, this one never got interesting to me. Drago was to wimpy, never a good trait in a Highland hunk. The narrator has a lovely voice and with the correct material she would be perfect. However, listening to Mary Poppins talk sexy was not inspiring for me.
