Publisher's summary

Laura Ramirez was loved by everyone. The men all wanted her, yet the women didn't hate her. She was just the type of person that was liked by all... or was she? Laura thought she was meeting her boyfriend in a private location. When she arrived, he wasn't there. And whoever was there sent her fleeing for her life under the shadows of the Costa Rican rain forest.

Lela Charles never imagined that working for the Alexanders would involve traveling out of the country. After breaking up with Jordan Alexander six weeks ago, they are thrown back together to find a missing resort employee or bring back her body. They'll have to put their differences aside to solve the case. But Lela isn't so sure she can do that when one of Jordan's old flames shows up to help investigate the case.

Under the Shadows

Lela is asked to work another case with the Alexander’s and this time the get to turn it into a partial vacation as they head to Costa Rica on a private jet. Only looking for a missing woman doesn’t leave as much free time as Daisy would like! Jordan and Lela get a chance discuss their breakup and start mending their relationship. As the days pass things on the case get more complicated and intense.
Marla Joseph’s weaves a wonderful story with Costa Rica as the beautiful backdrop. The details and description of the scenery are just amazing. DC Cole does a wonderful job with the narration he really knows how to bring a story to life.

Is Jordan moving on from Lela?

It’s been 6wks since Lela dumped Jordan and she has acted a part time job with Alexander Consulting. The newest case is to locate a missing resort worker in Costa Rica. Upon arrival in the country, the team is met by the hotel bus driver and Detective Rosa Sandoval. The woman immediately starts to paw Jordan and Lela is doing her best to act unaffected. Is Jordan moving on? How will this affect Lela’s ability to work with the team? As the team trek through Costa Rica and Nicaragua and question workers at the current resort, as well as the woman’s former employer, they appear to be getting nowhere. That said, the action is fantastic...one of the team is almost poisoned & another is shot, Will they solve this mystery and return home intact or will they leave someone behind? I’m still, and forever will be team Jordan!!! Glad that he got an HEA.
Great book, awesome series and even better narration!!!

Excellent listen!

Love this book! Plenty of action that kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat. Love the Alexander Ranch series and characters, Lela and Jordan are great together, and I love the humor in the character interactions. Amazing narrator, he really brought the story and characters to life by capturing the emotions expressed. Excellent story!

I really enjoyed this listen! It was suspenseful and interesting. I really liked Layla and Jordan’s characters and where the story took them! Anyone who enjoys mysteries should read /listen to this. Marla Joseph is an awaken story teller!

DC Cole also did an amazing job with so many characters. They were all distinct and easily recognizable!

Marla Joseph’s and D.C. Cole do it again

Wow! You know it is going to be a good book when it’s written by Marla Joseph’s and it’s narrated but D.C.Cole but this one is exceptionally good. I could go on and on about everything I loved about it but I’ll just say Hot Guys, Suspense, Tropical Paradise, paranormal abilities all wrapped up in a strong family business with a great storyline. Just buy the book. I promise you will have of the best narrative scenes ever written and performed! I give it a 10!

I Need More!

This book was amazing in both writing and narration. This case was definitely the hardest one to guess who did it and I loved the way it turned out. I was constantly going back and forth playing the “who done it” game and the emotions and rage from the guilty party was phenomenal. My only disappointment of this book is that there are no more out there yet for me to read! Great series so far and can’t wait to hear more!

Suspense and Romance!

I cannot say enough good about this book. I was captivated from the very beginning opening scene and narration by DC Cole. The combination is spectacular. Marla Josephs is a very talented author and writes great imagery, suspense and some humor. There was one line in the book that will stay with me for a very long time. This book is part of a series and a standalone listen. I enjoy it very much when an author has characters from one book appear in another and has the consistency of narrator. It is like catching up with old friends. Like a road, this book has many twists and turns in it. I did not see who the "killer" was until confession. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I enjoyed the updates of Layla, Grace, Daisy, Ethan, Jordan, etc

well... I didn't see that coming!

I just love a mystery that is actually a mystery and I had did not guess who the culprit.

Are you looking for action? You'll find it here.
How about some romance? You'll get that too.

This is a very interesting world because it's so similar to reality with just enough difference to make it really interesting.

The first scene is Laura and her getting shot, the investigation is the Alexander crew looking into what happened to her, but we barely see her again in the book. It was odd but effective.

This book can be read as a standalone, there is enough explanation that it makes sense on it's own, but there are major spoilers for the earlier books in here so read in order if you plan to read the series.

The narration is excellent, great characters and the delivery is well paced and natural sounding.

Book 5 I Humbly Beseech You <3 LOL

WOW - The Alexander/Charles Dynamic is ever so amazing in this series :)
Marla's words truly shine in pure magnificence under the smooth tones of DC Cole.

I read books 1 - 3 and found them so inspiring and so tangible, Marla Josephs truly brings the lives of her characters and presents them in such a profound way one can't help but become consumed with the adventure, danger, the bond each individual has and the depth of their growth as individuals and as a group - the loyalty - the fierce devotion and dedication and true acceptance and welcome they give you when invited into their lives and their family.

listening to DC's delivery of each character I had moments of glee at how he vocalised Daisy such a sassy little thing she is lol and Grace lol he really did all the characters justice Lela was and always is amazing her strength, determination and self preservation albeit frustrating at times but identifiable and just so worthy...

The tangible twists and turns of Lela and Jordan's friendship/Relationship had my mind splitting in so many different directions and was truly amazing to experience lol I wish I had the connection with someone that they have ;-) right down to thoughts and dream manifestation lol :-p 5 stars most definitely

The South American Characters blew my mind and there were many times I closed my eyes and was swept away with DC bringing Marla's words and characters journey to life in my minds eye *applause and standing ovation to both Author and Narrator*

DC's control of Voicing Ethan, Blake, Shane, Jordan and Logan - like Daisy DC really outshone and his voice for Ethan gave me such a giggle it was kind'a on point.. although I loved all the characters and the way DC Cole performed their characters was just amazing .

I experienced the highs and the lows,LUST and Passion mingled within the drama and the danger holds the reader and listener in such a prolific way
the way Marla's words were executed and the action sequences delivered by DC Cole's narration made this a 5 Star experience for me and I truly cannot wait for the next installation.

definitely a series I would recommend for future reading and listening pleasure

Thankyou <3 for the most amazing Costa Rican experience it truly makes me want to place the destination onto my bucket list <3

Thankyou Marla (& DC) for such an amazing gift <3 it is truly an honor and I am ever so grateful :)

Intrigue,Mystery andMore!

I have quickly become a fan of Marla Josephs. This book was full of intrigue, mystery and so much more. The Alexander security team is in Costa Rica trying to solve the disappearance of a resort staff member. Lela and Jordan are thrown together as they investigate and an old flame of Jordan’s also complicates matters. Although I am new to this series and have only read one of her other books (which apparently was from a spin off series) I didn’t have any problems catching on to the dynamics of the team members and really enjoyed the story. The mystery was handled well and it kept me interested enough to keep listening to find out what was going to happen next. I thought that D.C. Cole’s narration was excellent. His male voices were so sexy and he did a great job of the female ones as well. I would definitely listen to anything he narrates. This book was given to me for free and I provided this unbiased review and certainly do not hesitate to recommend this book.
