Another tale linked to a Poe poem.

A knight, returned from the crusades, is privy to a conversation between two sisters, who was plotting to place mistletoe beneath the pillow of the eldest sister, so she might dream of her future husband, and turn away from her lost love, who had died two years past.
This conversation gave the knight an idea, which he followed up on.
However, neither he or the lady concerned would have ever conceived of the outcome to his actions.
Short, but none the least sweet romantic tale.

Hmm just an okay story. Good narration.

Well, this story was just okay. Kind of ridiculous and Ren started out kind of creepy. I didn't like him at all until the end of the book so that is not good. It would have been better to have some more about his background prior to making him liar and a creeper.

Holly was kind of boring. Just sayin..

I didn't think this was a very good short story. IMO. Maybe for others it was good but nor really for me.

As for the narration it was good. Sean Patrick Hopkins did a good job on the female voices and had a sexy voice for Ren and a nice reading voice.

Ren and Holly

Overall I enjoyed this story.
However most of this short story I was annoyed with Ren, his scheming and his attitude towards Holly.
In the end luckily he redeems himself.

Novella too short to engage my better feelings

Any additional comments?

I didn’t like the hero, Sir Rennington of Ashbourne, particularly at the end of the story. He was too suave, his voice too kind. (probably has something to do with the narrator’s approach) Of course, the reader hears what he is thinking. Even when he, himself, realizes he’s a jerk, I couldn’t forgive him. He changes only when he is cornered, realizing what he was doing to his best friend’s angel, Holly, and feeling guilty. Guilt doth not make a man honorable. I’m not able to get past this point. If Holly had been another woman, he would have pursued her and not felt badly tricking her. No, he wasn’t my cup of tea. In my mind, he didn’t redeem himself.Holly isn’t a very likable heroine, either. She is easily duped. I see some seeds of strength in her, but she easily is manipulated by Sir Rennington and then forgives him. I didn’t like that she could dismiss so easily her sisters’ concerns to have her consider marriage. Again, I think it is because of the shortness of the novella, preventing the fleshing of and feelings of the characters) I couldn’t find anything in her to admire. The narrator’s voice is annoying at times when in both hero and heroine dialogue he breathes in at the end of the phrase. I started listening to that rather than the story! The plot is a good one along with the setting—a time of miracles at Christmas time and magic. As a novella of 76 pages, character development and supporting scenes to make these characters soar with the season, just didn’t happen.I normally love everything this writer pens. I listened to the story a couple of days ago, and still my thinking remains the same.

Upon A Midnight Dream

I absolutely loved this book. Two lost souls getting together. Kathryn made a great book. I did listen to this on audiobook, though. Narrator was excellent, too.

Another Winner for Kathryn Le Veque

Upon a Midnight Dream is a page turner for certain. I had not read nor heard it (in my audiobook) earlier. I began listening as soon as I retired last night, and could NOT turn it off until I heard "the end" this morning. It has all I look for in one of Kathryn's books! It is filled with mild intrigue, a great story flow, conniving, lies, and most of all a very surprising ending! Sean Patrick Hopkins has done a fine job of bringing this fascinating story to life. I heartily recommend it. It will be a book you will remember, whether in print or audio. Don't deprive yourself of this one.

A Christmas miracle

Hollys sisters urge her to find a nan to marry so they can then search for a husband. But Holly lost her fiance and feels she will never love again. Sir Rennington overhears her sisters talking about Holly. He starts out deceptively trying to woo Holly. But revelations and Christmas will show how God has a plan for both of them.
