About this listen
A sinister magic is sweeping across Nash City....
To Fiona Moon, it's just another day at work. And some days, well, they're a helluva lot worse than others. As a member of the elite Black Blade Guard, Fiona is tasked with hunting down the most dangerous paranorm criminals. To find out who is kidnapping mages and sucking the life energy from their bodies, she has to work with the one man who embodies everything she despises.
Master necromancer Ian Barroes, a rich professor of necromantic studies, wants only one thing in this world: Fiona. They each hold secrets that could destroy them - as well as ones that could be the key to destroying the evil voodoo priest, Bokor. They must learn to trust each other and track down Bokor before more innocent lives are lost. When Fiona becomes the target of the evil madman, she's lured into his trap. Now she and Ian have to fight for survival...and their very souls.

I make a living out of screwing over the jerks who capture and torment supernatural beasties. But when I free a bunch of particularly powerful monsters from their cages, I'm not counting on them following me home like lost puppies - stunningly hot lost puppies, but still. These manly monsters are determined to repay me for my help, and they won't get out of my apartment, until they're satisfied we're even. There's something to be said for allies so devoted they'll tear off heads and shred souls on your behalf. I'm all for joining forces.

When romance novelist Kate Smith suddenly gets writer's block as she's beginning the final installment of her international best-selling erotic Bed 'n Breakfast series, she'll do pretty much anything to get her groove back. Like sneak into a Tire Depot waiting room because her words flow there just like complimentary coffee - smooth, sweet, and scorchingly hot. She manages to fly under the radar until the rugged and charming mechanic, Miles Hudson, notices the quirky redhead slinking in and out of the employees-only entrance. But she's way too intriguing to blow the whistle on.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Have you listened to any of Rebecca Roberts’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
yep...she is one of my faves, she is really great!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The end, when Fiona though she was going to die...she sacrificed herself!
Any additional comments?

Honestly loved it, and want boo 2 asap!! Fiona is kind of a magical police lady....a member of the Black Blade Guard..she investigates paranorm crime and brings those offenders in...well when a bunch of people start to go missing she is brought in to solve the case! I loved this...there is a bit of romance, and a great story behind it all!!!
I RECOMMEND! GREAT STORY AND NARRATION!!!

Wonderful world building and unique story.
June Stevens's writing was on point, and the narrator was easy to listen to.
Stevens did a great job building the world of Nash City. It is probably my favorite Urban Fantasy world. As I listened to this story I could see the settings and people. I also really loved that this was a completely new take on dystopian societies with the added bonus of the urban fantasy. I related to the characters, though a few times I wanted to slap Fiona for her stubbornness. It was an endearing stubbornness, though.
I really enjoyed not only getting to know the characters that were the focus of this book, but the secondary characters of the books to follow. It has made me eager to pick up the next in the series. I'm personally really excited to read about River's story, though I am very fond of Anya's sass. I feel like I'd be friends with all three of them.
Even though this is a very dynamic world Stevens has built, it is not one that the reader gets lost in. It is easy to keep up with the scenery and people, and you do not get overloaded with information that you forget where you are and who you're with.
This was definitely a 5-star listen and I recommend this book to any fan of dystopian and/or urban fantasy. The romance is steamy, but is not the main focus of the story.

Nash City is brought alive!
I remember the first time that I read Voodoo Moon. I was in love with the characters and the world. I had never read a book where dystopia and paranormal merged so well together and keep me engrossed into the entire story.
Fiona Moon is a member of Nash City's Black Blade Guard. She combines both magic and fighting and just makes for a kick a$$ chick. (there really is no other way to aptly describe Fiona) She loves her job and is fiercely loyal to her friends and family.
A new case comes along that she wants to work. Her boss thinks that she would be the one for the job, but the catch is that she has to work with the last person that she thinks she can't stand.
Ian Barroes is a Master Necromancer. He is rich and powerful and only wants one woman - Fiona Moon. Fiona, despises everything that Ian is for. She knows that he is the best one for the job but would rather do anything else then admit that.
As the job of finding who is abducting people around Nash City is getting more dangerous, the tension between Ian and Fiona lights up. Ian is more then willing to lose himself to Fiona, but Fiona is fighting for everything she is worth.
Rebecca Roberts does an amazing job in bringing all the characters of Nash City alive. I love the passion in her voice as Fiona. She brings the whole book to light and puts herself with the characters.
Not only is this a must read by June Stevens Westerfield, but Rebecca Roberts is a must listen to for the series. I hope that she will be the voice for the rest of the series if they go to audio.

Paranormal Nash
Would you listen to Voodoo Moon again? Why?
I enjoyed the story and world building. It was a good beginning to what I hope to be a new favorite series. I particularly enjoyed the setting as I'm originally from Nashville. It kept me intrigued if I could figure out where the events were happening even though it was Nashville after a Cataclysm.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked Ian (the Hero). While Fiona is a good female lead, I found a few times I had to shake my head, but overall I really enjoyed Ian's personality.
Have you listened to any of Rebecca Roberts’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first performance I've listened to Ms. Roberts. Her female character voices were well done. Her male character voices were okay. They were distinct, but it would have been a nice listen if the male & female leads were two narrators, as the chapters were set up for each character's point of view.
Any additional comments?
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. It will be a listen, just as this one was. This audiobook was offered in exchange for an unbiased review from audiobook blast dot com.

Series ends in a cliffhanger
Adding the review I wish I knew before I started.
Each of the 3 books leads into the next one, and the 3rd book is a transition book into 4, which doesn't exist.
Unfortunately, I don't enjoy reading incomplete series so Wish I hadn't started. Books 1 and 2, end enough to leave the series there as a reader.
Book 1's story is intriguing, the introduction into the characters went well...

Voodoo
I enjoyed it, it was an interesting take on Vampires. Not the Bela Lagosi monster.

Overall, an enjoyable read.
At the first, characters were full and sharp. After the romance started the main characters became shallow and puerile. The rest faded to nothingness in the background. Remembering this is a romance, I lowered my expectations and just enjoyed the froth.

Voodoo moon
If you could sum up Voodoo Moon in three words, what would they be?
Voodoo Moon is a novel for adults due to language and some sexual scenes.
It is a paranormal book with magic users and "normal" humans and vampires and just a whole host of creatures that any good paranormal book needs. It is also a dystopian style book

romantic tension slow
the love tension went from 0 to 100. there wasn't a gradual coming together. she had no feelings and rejected her love interest for half the book. then poof in one odd night she decided she loved him. I prefer a build up, an anticipation. even the other non romantic parts of the book were a bit under developed in tension and pace. even though I do like the concept and general plot, I won't be continuing with the series.

CAVALRY! NOT CALVARY
Ugh. I'm not sure if it's the narrator or the author that doesn't know the difference, but it came up three times... incorrectly used at each.
