About this listen

There are many who do not wish for peace.

As the Free Legion declares war on the survivors of Hollow Rock, Gabriel and Eric find themselves drawn ever deeper into the growing conflict. Aided by a fledgling militia, and a small contingent of federal operatives, the two warriors must find a way to defeat an unyielding enemy who threatens to destroy all they have grown to love.

To win, Gabriel must become the leader he was born to be, while Eric, haunted by his actions since the Outbreak, must descend deeper into the heart of darkness.

In this battle, nothing is what it seems. The tides of power are shifting, and soon, a danger even greater than the living dead will rise.

Amazing

Logical, funny and scary. This book gives it all, although the narrator kinda stinks... Still worth it.

Good, but it seems to follow a pattern

Any additional comments?

I like James Cook's style. Like his previous books, this was entertaining. I would have five stared it but it seems that most of the story was about bad living humans. This is the cliche of most zombie books. Zombies begin to mean little and it becomes about evil people. I grew tired of it with TWD, and it is becoming a regular thing with the Zombie Genre. Don't get me wrong, there will be evil people out there, but most of the book seemed to forget about the zombies.

This narrator leaves some to be desired

The book is in line with the others in this series, but the narrator is not good.

His voice for Gabe sounds like someone making fun of Batman.

Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoyed the characters or Eric and Gabriel and their struggles. I hope there are more to come.

Absolutely the best zombie book

Can’t say enough about James n cooks ability to paint a realistic world that draws you in with every word. I wish I knew about his books while I was deployed.

great story, more military than zombie tho

this was a great addition to the "surviving the dead" books. narrator really grows on you and I think I actually prefer him over the last one ( whom I also liked). this whole series is told from a masculine perspective and sounds as such. So don't whine if you feel like being a SJW and want to complain about the way women are portrayed. Overall I am excited to finish the series off and dive into the side stories.

Exciting

loved the book! There are so many exciting times in this book.. Once you start you really do not want to put it down and with each chapter it gets harder to do so. The narrator did a great job keeping the suspense and action going. Purchasing this book and the others in the series was a great investment and I'd purchase them again.

Why change?

Would you be willing to try another one of Jordan Leigh’s performances?

No. Can someone please explain to me why the narrator is changed in the middle of a successful series. By the third book readers are accustomed to, and, if they are listening to the third book, satisfied with the narration of first two. You get comfortable with the narrators voices and cadence and connect the characters with the narration. As I have previously experienced with the Sigma Force series, the replacement narrator for this series cannot hold a candle to the previous narrator, Guy Williams. The voices are forced and without emotion. The lead character, Eric, is now shallow and almost unrecognizable. If another book is offered I hope that the author and publisher have the sense to go back to Guy Williams and beg him to resume narrating the series and perhaps rerecord this one. It would be an excellent addition to the series if not for the narration.
