About this listen

Zach Adams is one of the best detectives in the country. Nicknamed Cowboy, he serves on a federal task force that has a single mission: to hunt down Dominic Abend, a European gangster.

After a brutal murder gives them a lead, Zach feels like he's finally on Abend's trail. But things get complicated and very, very weird. Zach is beginning to suspect that Abend's evil goes beyond crime - perhaps to the edge of the supernatural.

In a centuries-old forest under a full moon, a beast assaults him, cursing him forever. In the aftermath Zach is transformed into something horrible - something deadly. Now the good cop has innocent blood on his hands. He has killed - and he will kill again - in the form of a beast that can't be controlled or stopped.

Interesting, clichéd. But worth it.

The book is every bit as cheesy as the title suggests. And yet it's much deeper. There's a deep moral undergirding to this story that surpasses that of your usual werewolf story. It's the epic struggle of man VS the inner beast. And a tale of good VS evil. Worth the read. Though, maybe not worth a reread.

not a normal werewolf

A good cop story with an unexpected twist. A good cop warring against the beast.

Surprised me.

when I first read the name, I was sceptical to say the least, but I'd heard of Andrew Klavan before and gave it a shot. It hooked me within a few minutes. It's a great, gritty crime thriller, the werewolf aspect isn't cheesey or overdone. Overall, a great listen.

Amazing

Hearing Klavan on his podcast say this is one of his best works really was an understatement.

Brilliant and unique

The title does not do justice to the book. Fascinating premises, excellent character development. Gripping adventure sections alternating with sophisticated explorations of ideas and moral dilemmas. Great stuff.

Incredible Job Andrew!

I looked this book up after hearing Ben Shapiro mention it on a back stage episode a while back. I'm glad I got it. Didn't know how Andrew was going to make a werewolf story into something serious and impressive ban wow did he deliver. Absolutely worth the time. Excellent book. gotta pick out another now. Remember everyone. There are no E's in KLAVAN!

One of the best books I’ve ever heard

You feel every oz of hurt, love, pain, and joy that is felt by each and every character especially the main character

A fun, fast listen!

Andrew Klavan’s distinct narrative style breathes life into what might have otherwise been a generic police procedural with a supernatural element.
