Will a rake's wicked ways lead the lady astray?
Andrew Carrington, Earl of Bellingham, believes in being a gentleman, whether it's fishing a soggy stranger out of the Thames or assisting a fetching lady into his bed. If the stranger becomes a friend and the lady a mistress, all the better. He certainly welcomes the opportunity to help Laura Davenport, a dazzling young widow with a rebellious stepson. Her gratitude, he hopes, will take an amorous form. But from the moment he sets foot in her drawing room, he gets far more than he bargained for.
It was a moment of desperation. On the brink of losing her stepson, Laura turned to the notorious Lord Bellingham for help. Suddenly, she, a vicar's daughter, is in the precarious position of resisting his tantalizing advances. How Bell earned his wicked reputation is clear; the surprise is how much more there is to him than the gossip sheets could possibly reveal. Now every moment with this dangerously desirable man puts Laura's good name at risk - and promises pleasure unlike any she has ever known....

The characters in this book actually have conversations, there is little misunderstandings between the two of them (at least not the man made ones that leave you smashing you head in)!
There is an evil character but he doesn't take up much time and doesn't turn the whole last half of the book into fighting about him!
The feelings are real, they grow together in them and there is moderate sex scenes that are pleasant and sometimes funny.
The whole book has witty remarks and it is just a wonderfully written romance novel as I really don't like that SO MANY historical romance books have either so much war scenes or such that take away from the romance between the two main characters lives!
I read romance for romance...I am not a man who loves to read about battles, evil-evil villains doing bad things constantly, I really wish more authors would write in this style! Bravo Vicky and Priscilla it was outstanding!
Wonderful characters! Fantastic book!

Kinda Sorta Okay

The narration was exceptional! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that I found it the story repeated a large amount of information... u necessarily. I only give 5 stars when I have a strong emotion at the outcome, which I did not. All in all I do recommend the book as a nice little Regency Romance.
Good Story!

Disappointing ending

However, the intimate scenes were ridiculous (and hilarious). The author seems to have had a checklist of sexual techniques and she checked each item off at a very rapid pace in a robotic style. So, if you’re looking for a sensual description, this is not it.
One complaint in general: MUST the “confession” of “his demons” be a prelude to love? In this book, it was heavy-handed, but I’ve seen it in many other books too.
Perhaps this overused trope could be modified or dropped.
