Publisher's summary

Squatting: The action of occupying a property that the squatter does not have permission to use.

Gabby:

I prefer the term, borrowing, or, taking care of a property that would otherwise fall into ruin.

And I am enjoying it until the hot new, grumpy-as-hell owner turns up intent on chucking me out so he can flip the place to make a profit.

Persuading him to let me stay is almost as hard as the work he dolls out for the back rent he says I owe.

But damn if that construction-worker body of his isn’t hot enough to melt concrete....

Daniel:

I’ve got four weeks to flip my new place and sell it for a profit.

I don’t have time to deal with the sexy squatter intent on staying put.

But since she has nowhere else to go, I decide I’ll let her stay, so long as she earns her keep.

Then she’s out.

If only she wasn’t so tempting, taunting me with her body as she gets down and dirty on my site.

Gabby and Daniel:

Four weeks to fix up the house, sell it, and say good-bye.

Four weeks with no flirting, no eye-screwing, and no fantasizing about each other.

We can totally do it.

Until we can’t...

What the Flip is a new, hilarious romcom novella.

It can be listened to as a stand-alone (no cliff-hanger!) or as the first installment of the Love in Short series of stand-alone (full-length) novels.

Warning: May induce tears of laughter, all the feels, and a puddle in one’s pants.

A cute short story! I loved the accent the characters had. I found this to be a bit funny. Gabby was snarky and adorable.

Short Romantic Comedy

I found my self laughing often at the crazy construction one liners in this book.
Very good down to earth (with Heat) romance about a girl struggling to find her true place and the man that finds her in his bathtub.
Standalone with no cliffhangers, but the epilogue is a quick look into the next book in the series.

Funny short yet full romcom

This is my first book by Emily James and I giggled and laughed a lot. The premise was super cute with Gabby finding herself homeless when her house she is renting is sold and without a place to move to, decides to live there as long as she can. Daniel is surprised to find her in his house and that first encounter was hilarious, and the spider scene was a fantastic smile inducing part. So much fun listening to this audiobook. And the epilogue was a great segue to Sebastian’s story or maybe Luke?

I had no idea the characters were British and found the narration endearing and it made me listen more. A great fun story that was complete even though it is short. Wonderful novella, thank you Emily for making me smile 😊

Finished way too quickly!!!

Loved this book!!! I had previously read OMFG without realizing WTF came first, so I knew a little about some of the minor characters. Of course, this book centered around our sassy damsel in distress Gabby and our a-hole (at first) knight in shining armor. lol. I loved the audio for this. I feel like you really get a sense of the characters when you have a voice to match them with. It was especially great how there are separate voices for the main characters. I can't wait to reread OMFG and move on with the series!!! As always, Enjoy James has me laughing during my commute and longing to move the town of Heaven. lol

A funny, steamy romp

Very much a light, fun rom com, with just enough heart and steam to make it a good read. A quick listen, the narrators lean more towards the comedic tone, yet not taking away from the steamy moments.

A Delightfully Wonderful RomCom & Listen 🎧📚🎧

This wonderful RomCom is sweet and will definitely put a smile on your face. Emily James is a gifted author, I enjoy her writing style, she creates stories and characters that are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Her humor and witty dialogue is brilliant and had me laughing out loud. I adored both characters, Gabby and Daniel, the house Gabby was renting got sold to a developer and she was supposed to move out but not having a place to move to she decided to stay for as long as she could. She made the best of her situation and kept the place livable. But then the new developer, Dan, comes in and wants her out. Their first encounter was hilarious, turns out Dan the developer she was expecting but rather a flipper who was going to renovate and resell. It was what Dan did and he gave himself 4 weeks to complete the project, instead of kicking her out he let her stay and put her to work. I loved how everything played out in this book, from the bonking of heads to the chemistry between them and how well they wound up working together. This novella sized book packs an impressive amount of story, it is well written and has the prefect balance of drama, humor, heartfelt and emotional moments and the hot romance. Emily James, thank you for another enjoyable and entertaining story, I loved every minute of it.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, J Sophie Hunter-Scott and Greg Michaels did a great job bringing the characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all of the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They handled the witty dialogue with ease and landed the humor effortlessly. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for great listen🎧

New to me author

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Emily James. She wrote well with a good storyline and good characters. It is a novella which makes it easy to listen to a whole book in a shorter amount of time.

I was listening while riding my motorcycle and there were times I had trouble hearing. Not sure why that happened.

Sophie Hunter-Scott and Greg Michaels did well as narrators. Sophie wasn't what I expected voice sound-wise, but by the end I had adjusted to it. Loved their accent.

*I received a code and this is my voluntary and honest review.

What the Flip A Hot Romcom Novella

Due to unforeseen circumstances Gabby is homeless but decides to borrow the house and take care of the place. Then one evening the new owner appears and tells her she needs to get out. She decides to try to persuade him to let her stay and help him. He figures he could let her stay and help him work on the place so he can flip it and move on to another place. As they work together it starts as enemies trying to find the other's weakness. Gabby has another job as a bartender and Dan notices he shape and face and....Hmmm hate is just the flip side of love, isn't it?
Sophie Hunter-Scott, Greg Michaels are fantastic narrators who bring the characters of Gabby and Daniel to life and makes it fun to follow them in their path of discovery.
Fantastic audio and story!!

Laugh-out-loud, entertaining read!

This novella packs a punch with its wit and charm! I love this author’s writing style and sense of humor, as her undeniable cleverness to create comical situations paired with colorful dialogue shines again in this laugh-out-loud entertaining read. There’s a natural flow to the story, where the characters are very relatable with their actions, while their reactions and thoughts are just a hoot! I adored the chemistry between the two along with Gabby’s sass and resourcefulness, and Daniel’s stern and grumpy demeanor that softened as their working agreement blossomed into a blooming relationship. Definitely can’t wait to read on with the series, and we get a nice glimpse in the epilogue of who the next book may be about! Sophie Hunter-Scott and Greg Michaels are both new-to-me narrators and I really enjoyed how they captured the tone of the story while embracing both the witty and emotional moments. Loved the accents as well, which matched nicely with the British dialogue… though it took my ears a few chapters to adjust to Greg’s voice to understand him entirely, but it was easy enough to follow along.
