Publisher's summary

He saved my heart. She owns my soul.

From USA Today best-selling author Claudia Burgoa comes the highly anticipated conclusion to The Downfall of Us Duet.

The first time I saw her, I had a feeling about her.

It was the hypnotizing indigo eyes. Her smile. Her.

I find myself drawn to her music. I can’t stop thinking about her voice. I’m captivated by her beauty. I don’t understand the bond between us. Also, I belong to someone else.

He put me together when I was broken. He loved me when I couldn’t stand on my own two feet. We fought for our freedom. But still, I feel incomplete. Piper Decker might own a piece of me. But Derek Hastings claimed me when I was broken. Can I belong to two people? Can we coexist as one and find our forever?

When Forever Finds Us is a heartwrenching story of finding who you are before you can offer your heart.

When Forever Finds us...

This duet was an emotional rollercoaster, and I loved the ride Claudia Burgoa took us on.

So much has happened in this book, but sooo many spoilers if I talk about it and you haven't read the first book yet. Here's what I can say...

Piper runs away from Derek and Finn, but the guys aren't going to let her go that easily. When they return to fight for their girl, they find a box of letters that she had written to Archer. Make sure you have tissues handy because things get pretty emotional when they are reading the letters, which span the seven years of his disappearance, and she tells him everything, yes, everything.

My feelings about Finn were all over the place in the first book and for a good part of this book as well. Now, Derek, I liked him right from the beginning, and he stayed true to the person he was, so my feelings toward him never wavered. Derek is almost like the glue that will bond Finn and Piper together, and that's not a bad thing.

This Duet is a SLOW BURN Romance, but once they get to the point where they want to proceed with a relationship, you know that it was not rushed and that everything that needed to be worked out first was, and I appreciated that.

This duet must be read in the order it was released; if you picked up this book first, you will be lost, so please make sure you read THE END OF ME before this one. I highly recommend listening to this duet, Jason Clarke, Maxine Mitchell, and Lance Greenfield did a fabulous job with bringing Finn, Piper, and Derek to life.

This duet is perfect for readers that enjoy Contemporary Romances, Grumpy/Sunshine Romances, Age Gap Romances, Triad Romances, Second Chance at Love Romances, Workplace Romances, or Romances that include a person with Disabilities (mental trauma, amnesia, etc.)

Happy Listening!!!

Intense

This audiobook was intense, deeply emotional, heartbreaking and beautiful. Piper, Derek and Finn had to conceal their love for far too long. Their love connection is raw and gut wrenching. Narrators Jason Clarke, Maine Mitchell and Lance Greenfield talents shone in this book.

4 1/2 stars. Loved this ending to the duet.

4 1/2 stars for me. This concluded the tale of Piper, Derek, and Archer/Finn. I was drawn into the story, all the secrets, the revelations, the love. My heart hurt when Finn took it too far, and Piper almost gave up on him. I loved the intimate moments between Derek and Finn, and Piper with one and both. It was so touching as they learned each other's heartbeats. I recommend this duet.

The narration by Maxine Mitchell, Jason Clarke, and Lance Greenfield did a wonderful job again in finishing this story. The emotions came through, and I did not want to stop listening.

This is my unsolicited review.

Such a captivating story

This book was beautiful, heartbreaking, emotional, intense. The audio duet narration was perfection. It felt like a movie for my mind. Narrators Jason Clarke, Maine Mitchell and Lance Greenfield were such a perfect combination for Piper, Finn and Derek.

This second book started right where the first one ended and helped answer some more questions I had from the first book. The whole story is so captivating. I really felt connected to all the characters and could feel the turnmoil and emotions they were dealing with. My heart breaks for Derek and Piper and how they can just feel their chemistry. I love how this story wrapped up and felt like my heart was on process to healing after that first book.

Beautiful Conclusion

4.5/5 ⭐
2.0/5 🌶️
5.0/5 🎧

Dang that was an emotional read. I'm not sure I've read a romance that centered around romance and yet had very little romance (physically or emotionally)... Almost this entire series was these three dancing around their feelings and never really talking about them, and yet it was still such an incredible story.

I really loved the suspense aspects of this book, but I was so excited when that storyline was wrapped up and we could finally focus on Piper, Finn and Derek's healing and moving forward. I about squealed when the three of them were finally in the same space again, knowing that this was it, we were finally going to get their happily ever after. It was so worth that long, heartbreaking journey.

Again, the audio was amazing. Jason Clarke, Lance Greenfield and Maxine Mitchell brought these characters to life so wonderfully.

So many feels and such great characters

The blurb for The End of Me, book 1 in The Downfall of Us Duet, called the duet 'an emotional, angsty, tearjerker,' and I called the first book the mother of all emotional journeys. Neither was an overstatement. That said, this duet is one of my favorites, and I don't just mean favorite in Claudia Burgoa's list of books, although that's true (there are a lot of favorites in that category). This is a favorite for me, period. I realize that's really saying something, but it's completely true. These characters and their story got so far under my skin that if I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it and itching to get back to it. I know, I know, this is not the first impossible-to-put-down romance I've read, it's not even the first I've read by this author, but these characters, especially Piper, got to me. You cannot read this duet and meet these characters and not want them to work out.
That's not to say they didn't frustrate me from time to time. They definitely did, and I wanted to shake one or all of them until their teeth rattled, but that all goes right back to the many feels that make up this romance. It is a #whychoose? love story, and once you meet all three parts of this relationship, you'll understand why I say these characters had to find their way to each other. They just had to.
And that's my cue to stop before I give away the book's secrets. If you've already read the first book in the duet, then you already know some of those secrets. If you were waiting for both books to binge-read, my advice is simple - settle in with your drink of choice and dive right in. Oh, and have plenty of tissues at hand because you are gonna need them.
If you're like me and can't get enough of these characters, or if you prefer the audiobook, Jason Clarke, Maxine Mitchell, and Lance Greenfield knock it out of the park. Claudia Burgoa could not have chosen any better for the narration of this angst-filled romance. I always enjoy any of these narrators, and to get all three in one duet is a special treat.

Wonderful suspense romance with a twist!

I went into this duet knowing fully to expect ups and downs, but that doesn't scratch the surface. I really enjoyed the characters, the suspense, the faith, the intricate emotional experience. Such a complex experience that really works out in the only way it possibly could. This is book 2 of a duet and it was a page turner I was completely drawn into.

Narration by Jason Clarke, Maxine Mitchell, and Lance Greenfield was wonderful! Such excellent performers - I knew I would love it and I was right!

Such an emotional, action-packed conclusion!!

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐔𝐬 is the 2nd book in the 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐬 𝐃𝐮𝐞𝐭 by Claudia Burgoa, bringing us on an epic journey full of action, suspense, angst, heartbreak, and yes, some love and spice. The path to happiness for Piper, Finn, and Derek had many obstacles, both physical and emotional in this poignant conclusion to their story. Tears flowed for me, as I rode out every twist and turn with them, unsure how they could possibly heal all the hurts in these wounded souls enough for them to find a happy resolution. But I trusted that this author is a master of her craft when it comes to wringing out every possible emotion before weaving her beautiful ending. Thank goodness!😅 Once again, Maxine Mitchell, Jason Clarke, & Lance Greenfield’s narration of this complex story was a home run, as they nailed the characters’ unique personalities and all the emotional nuances, as well as the high action situations. I’m going to need to find something light and fun to help me get over the book hangover from this duet, but it was soooo worth it!!

Loved the conclusion to this emotional duet!

Five devastatingly beautiful stars! When Forever Finds Us by Claudia Burgoa was book 2 in the angsty, emotional Downfall of Us duet. This book picked up right where The End of Me left off, and immediately gripped my attention. The conclusion of Piper, Finnegan, and Derek’s romance tugged at my heartstrings and had me wishing and longing for them to find a way to start over and truly be together. This book shook me, gave me chills, and left me in happy tears! (Thanks, Claudia.)

Maxine Mitchell, Jason Clarke, and Lance Greenfield narrate this audiobook, and once again continued to bring the heat and the passion with their performances. Maxine moved me with her portrayal of Piper’s strength, control, and desires as she uncovered hard truths and finally found love with Finn and Derek. Jason was spot on with his portrayal of the ever-evolving Finn, as he learned about his forgotten past, and became hopeful for the future. Lance’s performance of Derek’s persistence, passion, and devotion was the glue that held this throuple together! The slow burn yearning delicious chemistry between Piper, Finn, and Derek was brought to life perfectly by all three narrators.

Overall, I LOVED this book! If you are a fan of an angsty, emotional MMF romance with two hot determined protective heroes, a bold, fiercely passionate heroine, coping with the past, taking down the cartel, a family trained in martial arts and music, hiding away in a safe house, danger, suspense, falling in love all over again, music that soothes the soul, finally getting revenge, slow burn steamy times, and a HEA that will last forever in your heart, then you will love Piper, Finnegan, and Derek’s romance. I always look forward to more from Claudia Burgoa.

Completely Captivating Conclusion!

This second book in the Downfall of Us duet takes us on an emotional rollercoaster journey that took my breath away! Finn continues to struggle with his lost memories, and why he is so drawn to Piper, a woman from his past. He is determined to destroy the cartel who made him into the cold man he is today, so that he, Derek, and Piper will finally be safe. Piper has mourned the loss of her soulmate, while struggling to move on with the two men she never expected to love. Derek is trying to protect Piper, while falling for the man who broke her heart as well. Can he find a place with Finn and Piper or will he always be second choice? This is an emotional, intense, and slow-burn love story that was completely captivating. I was so invested in Finn/Archer, Piper and Derek, and how they would find their way to each other and to their HEA! They are all so conflicted as they fight to win each other's love while fighting to protect their own hearts. I loved seeing events that happened in previous books, from a new perspective, helping me to understand the depth of their battle more completely. Burgoa did a great job revealing Piper and Archer's history, and how it grew into Finn, Piper and Derek's journey to find their beautiful forever love together.
Jason Clarke, Maxine Mitchell, and Lance Greenfield added so much depth to these characters as they continue to narrate this irresistible romance, and bring it to life so clearly. The way they expand on Finn, Piper and Derek's poignant relationship, making me feel all the heartbreak, hope, and passion they felt was brilliant. I was completely captivated by their performance.
The conclusion to their story is so riveting, and I loved it so much, I wasn't ready for it to end, wanting more, but also completely happy for them!
