Publisher's summary

The latest Mystery Writers of America story collection, featuring terrifying tales of encounters with strangers from some of the top bestsellers and award winners in crime fiction

It's been said that all great literature boils down to one of two stories—a man takes a journey, or a stranger comes to town. While mystery writers have been successfully using both approaches for generations, there's something undeniably alluring in the nature of a stranger: the uninvited guest, the unacquainted neighbor, the fish out of water.

No matter how or where they appear, strangers are walking mysteries, complete unknowns in once-familiar territories who disrupt our lives with unease and wonder. In the newest collection of stories by the Mystery Writers of America, each author weaves a fresh tale surrounding the eerie feeling that comes when a stranger enters our midst, featuring stories by prolific mystery writers such as Michael Connelly, Dean Koontz and Joe Hill.

A good variety of mystery stories

I enjoy these books from the Mystery Writers of America. This book, along with Deadly Anniversaries, include some great authors. Almost all of the stories are worth reading with a few being exceptional. The Joe Lansdale and Joe Hill entries are standouts I'm When A Stranger Comes To Town. The narration is also mostly good with only one narrator being just too slow to enjoy. I'm looking forward to more books in this series.

Exceptional collection.

This is a diverse collection of short stories related to Strangers. I wished that several could continue but that was not the intent. They were interesting and engaging.

A finely curated collection

A very pleasing group of short stories by highly skilled writers. Strongly recommended - especially for lovers of suspense.

Different but Good

We read (finished) all but the first story. Surprised endings in most. We couldn't guess how many of the stories would end. Worth the credit.

Some real gems in this one!

There's a couple duds in here, a few gems, and the rest are pretty enjoyable. It was a great listen overall.

Overall a good compilation at times predictable.

Any compilation will have high and low spots and individual tastes may very, but I fond some of the content well done while others were either predictable or tedious. overall worth while. I liked 80% and wasn't a fan of the UFO story or the predictability of the dead twins story. Perhaps I'm spoiled by my excess of Stephen King novels?

Only a couple good stories in here

Most of the stories were poor, and not particularly interesting or exciting. A couple of them were excellent, but not enough to recommend this collection. Very good narration by all.

Don't spend a credit

There were only several stories that were good..Connelly and Unger. Rest were dull, outcomes easily guessed, writing sub-par. Narrator on most awful especially when trying a Southern accent. I rarely regret buying an AUDIBLE book, but deeply regret this purchase. it was a struggle to get through the entire production. Disappointed that AUDIBLE even has this in their library.
