Publisher's summary

It was a bad idea from the beginning. He was my brother's best friend and the definition of unavailable. But I didn't care. I had loved him for as long as I could remember. He was worth the risk. He was worth everything. But then he broke my heart as easily as I fell for him. He watched me fall, spiraling out of control, and as I reached for him, he wasn't there to catch me. So I ran. Four years later, I never expected to see him again. He was still my brother's best friend, and he was more unavailable than ever. He looked every bit the bad boy I knew he was, covered in tattoos and a crooked smile. Guarding my heart from him was top priority because Parker James was where good girls go to die. Unfortunately for him, I wasn't a good girl anymore.

Good storyline, poor voice acting

Female voice actor as a lame “guy voice”, made it difficult to listen to the story.

Author used a limited vocabulary, chose the phrase “came out of my skin” multiple times which started to sound really weird in context, in addition to a few other odd wording choices.

Idea of the storyline was great! Gave it the third star for plot.

Audio enhanced this long time favorite from HR

AUDIO RE-READ:

I’ve been loving reading new books this way but also love rediscovering old favorites. This was one of my first Holly Renee books and is a long time favorite , and I really loved the audio- a great way to revisit this favorite. This is brother’s best friend (who is also engaged to another lady), LOADS of drama, years of miscommunication and heartache, and a secret relationship.

If you’ve not read Where Good Girls Go to Die- it’s the perfect encapsulation of all that I love about Holly’s romances. So much angst, passionate emotions, and a painful and heart touching journey to get to that HEA. Parker and Liv are also classic Holly Renee characters- they are WILDLY imperfect. They make mistakes…many. And mistakes that hurt each other. It brings a gritty realism to their connection.

Liv is one of my favorite Holly Renee heroines- perhaps because I relate to her so much. She’s internalized and buried a lot of her heartbreak, bottling up and repressing feelings, trying to hide from her pain. She’s a subtly insecure and vulnerable woman, but she buries it in her steely adaptability and her sharp sass. She’s a softy wrapped in her bad-a persona, and I felt for her so deeply.

Both her and Parker are tender hearts at their core-and they will frustrate you with their inability at times to level with each other. The assumptions they make, how they are passive out of fear of rejection. But their ending is oh so sweet and spicy. And both narrators I enjoyed, though I really loved the female narrator- she really captured Livy’s essence, and since I’ve had a major lady crush on her for a while, it was nice to hear her brought to life so perfectly.

Parker & Livy

I just happened to get this one on a whim. So glad I did. Which it was a tad more in depth. But hopefully I’ll will get a tad more from the next on in the series.

Livy & Parker Emotional & Swoony

This beautiful amazing book! I fell hard for the incredible narration of Rex Anderson and Katie Magable, their story telling pulled at my heartstrings.

This was an amazing read/listen. Livy and Parker have so much history. The book went back and forth from future to present. It was a little much but also helped to explain their story. Livy and Parker will have you swooning and falling hard for them. Their story is entertaining and so emotional. This is a must listen, brother best friend love story. Get ready to cry, laugh and swoon.

I never wanted this book to end

Dear Holly Renee,

I love you.

This book is awesome and so much more. I loved everything about the story and characters. No book is perfect but the feelings invoked are what make a book great to me and this gave me all the feels.

Stubbornness and misunderstandings that are totally realistic. Chemistry, that’s off the charts. The sex only gets hotter the further in you get - books don’t normally make me blush - I’ve read it all and this wasn’t even kinky but I was definitely blushing and fanning myself throughout.

If you love second chance romances that have a hot-damn steaminess factor with the tattoo factor and general sexiness all around - this is the book for you.

Totally worth the read!

4.5 stars!

1) Holy cow, that opening! I was sucked in from the get-go. Then I needed to know what the heck happened to cause the type of interaction that Livy has with Parker in that introductory chapter.
2) Tattoos. I've never been drawn to a plot that includes a tattooed alpha like I was in this novel before. I loved the scenes set in the business itself - it truly helped me connect with the story even more.
3) Darn good banter. I love sass in dialog and characters' actions. There were some great one-liners!
4) Alternating timeline. Alternating POVs. I thought both POVs and timelines were written well. A solid pace to the story, and just enough revealed from each POV to keep the reader interested and on the hook, wanting to know more.
.5) There were just a couple of pieces that weren't elaborated upon or tied up by the end, but it didn't detract from the story.

Now on to read the rest of the series!
