Publisher's summary

Sara Baron’s dream job as a professional symphony musician is threatened by a medical affliction. She returns to her hometown in Upstate New York to receive physical therapy and hopefully recover enough to resume her career. While playing duets for the opening of the town’s new community center, lights go out and a gunshot echoes through the reception area. The building contractor, a man with no shortage of enemies, is dead. Her duet partner and childhood friend begs her to help find the killer when her father, Sara’s old chemistry teacher, is at the top of the suspect list. With her keen sense of hearing and attention to detail, Sara has the ability and the time to play amateur sleuth, but is it worth the risk?

This isn’t the only choice Sara must make. Her family’s oboe-making business needs her, and she’s fallen in love with her physical therapist. If she’s able to return to her job at the end of her leave, one of her dreams will die no matter which road she chooses. The question is, which one?

A great mystery story!

Whispered Clues by Diane Weiner finds Sara Baron, professional musician, at home in upstate NY recovering from a medical condition. She has many decisions to make and is being torn in a lot of directions by friends and family. Then a man is killed at a community event and Sara is trying to solve the crime! A great story with lots of twists and turns! I can’t wait to see what path Sara chooses in the next book(s). The narration by Naomi Rose-Mock is wonderful! She does a great job giving a voice to all the characters! Highly recommended.

I enjoyed each twist and turn until the last word.

This is the second in the series. The book begins with Sara and her friend Mandy (Amanda) playing background music for the opening of the Ellie Rossi Community Center. Ellie was murdered six months earlier. At the event, there is a murder. The victim is Jeremy Hotchkiss.

We learn a lot about Jeremy and his business dealings.
Subplots include a prison escape, relationships, and health issues for her grandfather.
Also, job opportunities for a few of our characters are in the mix. What will happen, what will their choices be?
I enjoyed each twist and turn until the last word.
Looking forward to the next installment.
