Publisher's summary

The definitive autobiography from Eve, the multiplatinum, Grammy Award®-winning, Emmy®-nominated rapper, singer-songwriter, actor, mother, philanthropist, and entrepreneur.

In 1999, Eve Jihan Cooper made history with her solo debut album, Let There Be EveRuff Ryders’ First Lady, reaching number one on the Billboard 200, marking her as the third female rapper to ever obtain that position. She later made history again as the first recipient ever of the Grammy Award®for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for her platinum single “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” with Gwen Stefani. Following up with three chart-topping albums that made unrivaled waves in the world of hip-hop and music, as well as trailblazing moments in TV/film and fashion, Eve now looks back on her groundbreaking career.

West Philadelphia was not for the faint of heart—Eve knows that better than anyone. However, she navigated those Philly streets (and later the rest of the world) seamlessly, though it was not without strength and resilience. She incorporates that unbridled ambition into every bar that she writes and every stage/set that she stands on. With a gritty realness that speaks to her style, she shares her experiences going from the Mill Creek Projects to Hollywood. In this memoir, Eve delves into her entrance as "Eve of Destruction" into a male-dominated hip-hop industry, the deeper story behind Scorpion that was never told until now, and the internal battle with her music, her label, and herself after Lip Lock.

This fearless, empowering, and inspirational memoir from hip-hop sensation Eve explores her rise to stardom as a female MC, her lasting legacy on pop culture and music, and her incredible yet enduring struggle balancing her personal life with her professional one.

This took courage and determination

I enjoy this memoir a lot. I bought the book initially not knowing what to expect, as this is the first memoir I’m reading as an adult. This book was inspiring, but also conveyed a sense of truth and realness that we don’t always get from celebrities and the likes of them. She shared not only her glowing movements, but also moments of sadness, depression, and struggles, then told a story of how she found her way each time, with each new endeavor, and life chapter. Thank you Eve for being so candid and open. I’d like to read another one in ten years or so.

Evolution

This was an evolutionary read! I love to see how a person is able to evolve and blossom into something beautiful. Hearing Eve narrate the events of her life, made me thankful for every aspect of my own and the “growth” path I’m currently on. BEAUTIFULLY written.

Good job Eve

Thanks for being so transparent! You have ALWAYS been one of top favorite female artists. I think you're one of the dopest chicks that ever did...I admire and adore you sis! Keep grinding and continue to Boss Up, professionally but more so emotionally and mentally!!!

I LOVE EVE

It was a Great book! I love how vulnerable she was. I’m also glad it wasn’t too long like some books. I still don’t know why some autobiography’s have to be 20 hours long

Eve is THAT GIRL

I've always been a fan of Eve! Whether a rapper or actress, she was edgy, real, and an overall star. To listen to Eve's memoir made me love her even more. To be transparent about her life, personally and professionally, speaks volumes!

Unapologetically Eve

Even though Eve has managed to be present and up-front in diverse forms of media, whom she is as a person, what motivates her and how she’s gotten where she presently is has alluded listeners and viewers. This book reveals all of it.

Some events I knew, many I did not. I believe only she could narrate the audiobook and she did a great job weaving in and out of rap lingo and hip-hop culture, to the Hollywood star she is.

I recommend it to anyone who loves music, autobiographies and Hollywood, as well as to women everywhere who need inspiration to just go for it. But also to men and women who are fans of mavericks who go their own way.
