About this listen

Why Men Are the Way they Are is what women don't know about men - and men don't know about themselves. Dr. Warren Farrell is a pioneer of both the women's and men's movements. He started more than 300 men's and women's groups - joined by men from John Lennon to John Gray.

Oprah calls Why Men Are the Way they Are "one terrific book!"

The N.Y. Post calls it "the most important book ever written about love, sex, and intimacy."

For this audio version, Dr. Warren Farrell personally rewrote the book's highlights as if it were a dialogue between, say, you and him - allowing you to answer questions like these:

About Men:

  • How can I get him to express his feelings before he becomes angry?
  • Why are the men I am attracted to the most difficult to get along with?
  • Why are the best men the most afraid of commitment?
  • Why are men so preoccupied with sports?
  • Why can't a man be a friend before a sex partner?
  • Why are men such jerks?

OR

About Women:

  • Why do women say they'd like to hear my feelings but then withdraw when they hear my feelings?
  • If women are so liberated, why do the most attractive ones still expect me to ask them out, pay for dinner, take all the sexual initiatives, and call them in the morning?
  • Why are the women who earn the most the least interested in commitment?
  • Why are the women I'm most attracted to the most difficult to get along with?
  • Why is a woman who supports just herself called a "career woman" while a man who supports just himself is called a "playboy"?
  • Why are men denied equal opportunity to the children after divorce?
  • Why do most married women have the option to work or raise children, while their husbands have the option to work or work?

Surprisingly good and actual.

Helpful to untangle the expectations and demands which forms you and in many cases make you feel uneasy. And helpful both in marriage and the uprising of children.

one of the most accurate books on men I've read

Fantastic audiobook! This audiobook has pushed the paperback copy up to the top of my list of reads. I plan to read it VERY soon so I can absorb this incredibly relevant information. It strikes to the very heart of most relationship problems and our culture wide problems among our men.

LIFE CHANGING

Father of 3, married for 20 years, serve in tge clergy and frequently council couples on marriage and life. This is an excellent insight into understanding men and women's feelings, perceptions and misconceptions. This has the potential to save relationships and to create new relationships that are healthier and more stable. Worth your time. I have listened to it 4 times and use its council frequently.

thank you

love learning about the inner workings of the male mind. I do this to prepare for my womanly role in a man's life in the future to honor him. Love how the author points out the necessity of safe male spaces for their issues just as women have them. lots of a-ha moments coming from this knowledge.

Everyone should read this book

Everyone, man or woman, should read this book to understand the importance of all sides of a problem. Complicated things are manifestly multi-dimensional, and needless to say relationships are complicated - which makes the consideration of the underlying issues through a multivariate lens all the more important.
