Publisher's summary

This wasn’t supposed to happen. I was supposed to glide through senior year unnoticed and ride into the sunset on the back of my aunt’s inflated bank account. I was supposed to be in control.

Now they are.

The trials will last 60 days. They can happen anytime, anyplace, and anyone or anything is fair game. I won’t see them coming. I’ll need to be ready at all times. Prepared to fight, to steal, to save, and to kill at Diesel St. Crow’s command.

While I sit on standby, he’s ordered his sons to keep an eye on me, and they’ve become my own personal wardens.

Corvus, Rook, and Grey. Their watchful stares will make destroying them from the inside harder than I planned for.

But as truths are dragged out of the shadows and new dangers emerge, I may be forced to accept that they are more than armed roadblocks in my path. They might also be my only hope of survival.

Wicked Trials is a full-length, dark enemies-to-lovers reverse-harem romance, meaning the main character will have more than one love interest. It is book two in the Boys of Briar Hall series and should be listened to after Crooked Crows.

Warning: This is a dark gang romance. It contains foul language, graphic depictions of gang violence, and jealous/possessive themes. Please listen responsibly.

Slowed down a bit, but still good ❤️

So book 2 brings us into the fold of the Saints/Crows and the trials Ava Jade has to endure so she isn't offed for what she did at the end of book 1. Some things were better in this sequel, while some parts were a bit slow for me. I think book 3 so far has been the best (had to keep listening after that ending!) but 2 does a good job lining things up. Some this were a little OTT with Ava Jade (one of the reasons I couldnt give it an outright 5 stars) but I got used to it haha.

I was sorta on the fence in book 1 regarding the guys but the author started to convince me to fall for them. Now don't get me wrong, they all are broken/have their own darkness so if you are looking for butterflies and rainbows, turn away now. But if you like dark contemporary romance, then this is for you. We get to see the guys slowly fall for Ava Jade, let her get under their skin so to speak. The first trial was unexpected but had some great funny moments. Description of everything made me envision it on a tv show or easily in my head. The stalker comes back into the picture full force, won't give it away but maaaaan does the guy need a chill pill and some help. The threats from him loom over Ava Jade until the confrontation. The dealings with Diesel get worse and worse for Ava Jade. Totally am not a fan of him and happy to see his comeuppance after the crap he puts Ava Jade through. I still really like Grey the most but Rook and Corvus definitely gain some brownie points. I love how loyal Rook and steadfast he is, despite his unhinged nature. Corvus starts to realize his feelings and how his behavior is impacting Ava Jade and his chances with her. Some adorable/vulnerable moments sprinkled in this book which I appreciated. I think for me the instant relationship with Bekka didnt feel 100% right to me. I honestly thought she was going to be the evil mastermind, thank goodness she wasn't, but not sure how genuine it felt (their instant bestie status).

Narration was on point as this dynamic duo usually does! Love the duet narration and the emotion that came in this one. It wasn't as intense as, let's say, book 3 but more to come in that review haha. This one the tension was super thick with the characters you could cut it with a dull butter knife. The narrators did a good job adding that emotion to the performance to this audiobook, bringing Ava Jade, the Crows, and the side characters to life!

Love this book/series

The Bordeauxs did it again! The narration is top notch and brings the book to life. The series is well written and doesn’t lag. Can't wait for series to progress.

Much more entertaining

I enjoyed this one a lot more the book one. There’s tons of action in this one and it’s not all romance. I love a good heated scene as much as the next person but there aren’t alot really. But there are several twisted story lines that will keep you on your toes and guessing at what will happen next. A lot of character and relationships growth but the plot thickens. We ended the last book with them begging to let A.J. Do the trials instead of just dying. The trials are only a small part of this book! That roommate that was in the last one that I knew was more the meets the eye…. Guess you’ll have to read it to see! A lot happens in the book, it’s fast paced and varying so you’re never bored but it ends in a cliffhanger and the next audio book isn’t available 😭. Hopefully soon because A.J. Ended the last book on a mission! Narrators didn’t disappoint. The quality, the acting and emotions they pour into everything they do continues to astound me! They take words on a page and make it in to a listening experience.

Kick ass character and awesome narrators!

Ava Jade is such a strong and fearless character. She does what she feels is right and does not hold back. Ava Jade starts the trails in this book and has to work her ass off just to survive them. I love how protective Rook, Corvus, and Gray are in this book. I also loved getting to see another side of Corvus. Such a great fast paced book that is packed with angst, hotness, and heartache. I can't wait to find out what happens next. Jake and Bridget Bordeaux as always did an amazing job narrating. They are a couple of my favorite narrators. I love that they make you feel the characters emotions.

Bordeaux Babes

Honestly I listen to anything and everything this hubby and wife duo come out with. The books they narrate are always great on their own but the pizazz these two bring just brings the story to a new level.

Great Story & Listen🎧 Wildly Wicked & Captivating

Elena Lawson continues to wow me with the second book of her “Boys of Briar Hall” series, this book picks up where the first book, “Crooked Crows”, ended, the first book is not to be missed, it lays the foundation for the series and for what is to come, the world building and character development and growth is phenomenal and continual throughout the series. Ava Jade “AJ” Mason is fearless, they gave her an ultimatum, well not really, since there was not any choice in the matter. She will be initiated into the Crows but only if she can get thru and pass the trials. She became more tolerable with the Crows, Corvus, Rook and Grey, after spending more time with them, growing closer with each one of them. They also developed feelings for her and while they knew she had to be put thru the trials, it did not entirely thrill them either. She faces other challenges as well, including dealing with her roommate, Det. Vick was still trying to lure her in and her biggest challenge was Diesel. Ava Jade is no ordinary badass, she is smart, cunning and can think on her feet, a force to be reckoned with and I am looking forward to see what her next move is going to be, that ending had me yelling, no, no, no, but no matter what I know she will do the right thing but what will the Crows do, will they let their little sparrow fly or will they clip her wings. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is a cleverly plotted story with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt and emotional moments and some steamy romance. Elena Lawson, thank you for this wildly wicked and entertaining ride!

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Bridget Bordeaux and Jake Bordeaux continue to do an awesome job bringing these characters and their story to life. They have a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that was a perfect fit for that character’s persona, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. These talented narrators are versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen.

Wicked Trials

Wicked Trials is the second book in the Boys of Briar Hall series. This book is told from multiple points of view from Ava Jade (AJ), Corvus, Rook, and Gray. This book starts off right where book one ends off, so this series should be read in order.

Book one ended with AJ seeing something she shouldn’t have and the only way the guys could save her is to have them join their gang. So now they want her to go through the trials to get in.

At first, AJ is hesitant and wants nothing to do with the guys, but realizes she doesn't really have a choice if she wants to live. As AJ is dealing with the trials, she is also dealing with her stalker, her roommate, and a detective who wants to bring the boys and their father down.

So much happens in this book, and it kept me wanting more. The narrators also really brought the story to life!

🌟🌟🌟🌟💫

This series is my first by Elena Lawson, but I really need to find the time to read more of her books. This book picks up right after the end of book one, and it is an even better ride then the first. There is so much going on in this book & the ending was not at all what I expected. I seriously need book 3 to see where this series is going.

This book was just so much more then book 1, more heat, more character growth, more surprises. I loved absolutely everything about it. This book was so good and I am excited for more!

Can I also just give a shot out to Bridget & Jake Bordeaux on they epic narrating skills. The audiobooks is so good & I loved how they did the dual narration integrated, so anytime Ava Jade or one of the other female characters speaks in the guy's chapter, Bridget does the narration & vice versa. It make for such an amazing listening experience. These two really capture the characters personalities in their narration & cannot get enough of it.

If you love dark romances this is definitely one to check out!
