About this listen

- Invadiendo Inglaterra
- El Guardián de Escocia

The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Story
The Roman gladiator has long been a figure of fascination. Portrayed frequently in fine art and popular culture alike, the gladiator is both a real part of history and a legend of a romanticized past. We know that these men entertained Roman audiences by fighting in dangerous and often deadly games. But who were the gladiators? What were their lives like? And why do they continue to have such a strong hold on our imagination, centuries after the fall of the Roman Empire?

Richly details history of Wallace and his rising.
The author gives a richly details account of the Scottish clime of politics that formed and fermented Wallace. It might be a little bit more than the average reader would be interested in, but for those wishing to know more without wading through Blind Harry, this is a wonderful work.

The Love of a Book!
Gift for my son from the publisher. He is in love with William Wallace and his efforts. He loves this book as it includes the name of one of our ancestors and the fact that we are Scottish.

I admire the willingness of the author.
The account is well written and, in parts gripping. I would give the book 5 stars but as it is the first and only book I have read on the subject I have nothing with which to compare it.

This gets better toward the end.
Despite impressive historical research, the author too often pays more attention to describing his sources than to telling his story. Time and time again, the author cannot resist remarking upon his footnoted authorities, calibrating their weight, delighting in the discovery of inconsistencies, and refereeing contesting interpretations among historians.

Scotlands problems against England.
The Captivating History author team, an acquaintance of mine, has done a masterful job on William Wallace's life and contribution to the Scottish Nation. Well worth the book.
