I really enjoyed this second chance romance of two men who used to be friends until one felt betrayed by the other. Jake and Andreas meet up again when Andreas needs Jake's help protecting his child. I really liked watching them develop their relationship all over again both as friends and lovers. The narrator did a great job with the characters and with the story. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is a fast-paced, engaging story that I couldn’t stop listening to. The authors have crafted a story with intriguing characters, a bit of mystery and suspense, and of course love. All the elements are found within this story for an entertaining reading experience. The narrator does a nice job of bringing the characters to life.

Andreas and Jake have a history. It’s a painful one, but Jake puts aside his anger and resentment to take on Andreas’s case. He realizes, as the investigation continues, that the Andreas who betrayed their friendship all those years ago isn’t the same as the man he’s becoming reacquainted with. And as Andreas discovers, the feelings he had had for Jake even back then have not disappeared. The love comes quickly but is understandable given that they’ve known and had feelings for each other since high school. I found the premise for the suspense part pretty thin, with Andreas and his daughter being threatened and baited because he chose to testify against a friend. Then, there were some time inconsistencies specifically around Andreas’s marriage and his daughter’s age and the feud that started in high school. Also, the narrator’s performance felt a little rushed; he read as though he were in a race.

Jake had feelings for Andreas when they were young.
However, he turns from his friendship with Andreas when his sister is accosted and Andreas defends the folks who hurt her. Jake decides he never wants to see Andreas again and moves on with his life, well sort of. Andreas finds himself in a pickle and he approaches Jake for help and forgiveness. This was an awesome book brought to life with the sound of Robin in your ears.

The authors and this narrator were completely new to me and let me just say that this was an amazingly enjoyable and exciting book! So sweet and loving with some danger thrown in! I will definitely be adding the rest of their library to my wishlist.

Andreas betrayed Jake in the past but when they are reconnected , is a second chance possible. Andreas' daughter is in danger, Jake can help. He will protect them... and then he will never let them go.

In this friends to enemies to lovers romance, we get a sexy single dad who will do anything to keep his daughter safe and a strong protector who will not only protect, but with claim his man and his daughter. Sweet moments, sexy times and a bit of action and drama. This book captures your attention and won't let go.

Narration is done by Robin Woodson. It's a fantastic job of bringing the story to a whole new level of enjoyment and make the personalities shine. Great job!

Story: With My Body by JP Oliver and Peter Styles is book 1 of the Guarding My Heart series, and is a short and sweet mm romance about second chances, forgiveness and solving some mysteries! We meet Jake, who has had feelings for Andreas when they were younger but one moment changed their lives and friendship for the worst. Decades later, Andreas re-enters Jake’s life, begging for help, for his daughter is starting to get threats after Andreas testified against a former friend that has a history for harassing women; and that bit of information hits to close to home for Jake. Reluctant to help because he’s unable to forget what happened when they were teens, Jake can’t help himself, still harboring feelings for Andreas, he finally agrees to help Andreas.

Performance: this was my first time listening to Robin Woodson and although I would have loved it more if he differentiate between the MCs, he still did a good job narrating. I’ll keep my ears open for his future projects.

Overall: I love second chance romances. With the little mystery thrown in, forgiveness between two men who are learning to free themselves from their own demons and some sweet love, I enjoyed With My Body; four stars. Happy listening all!

Short, sweet, second chance mm romance

The main characters had a falling out when they were younger and went they separate ways. Threats and danger bring them back together years later. Their old feelings and attraction cannot be denied but they have their anger, emotions and lives to consider.

The plot was fast paced and at times didnt flow very well for me. Especially when is went from past to present. The suspense of the threats was easy to figure out.

The narration however, was done well and the characters were brought to life splendidly.
