Publisher's summary

The Federal Witness Protection Program has been hacked and the current information of the witnesses in the program is being auctioned to the highest bidder on the internet. A murderous crime spree ensues as witnesses are turning up dead. Marshal Kevin Wayne, the program manager, becomes the prime suspect since the hack was made from his work station. To clear his name and uncover the auctioneer, Kevin goes undercover, assuming the identity of a witness who died years earlier. Kevin is hiding in plain sight as he attempts to rescue the next victim.

He has the assistance of Alison Weber, his immediate subordinate. She secretly provides clues when the next auction will occur and who is the likely victim. When Alison discovers that Catalina Chavez, the former girlfriend of a Colombian drug lord has hit the auction, Kevin is conflicted. Catalina Chavez is the woman he expelled from the program after she failed to testify in court. The race is on to find her before an assassin does. His search for Catalina turns up one surprise after another while the auctioneer sets loose his own search for Kevin Wayne.

Witness List is a deadly game of hide and seek, where the participants are blind to who is hiding and who is seeking.

Witness List Use of Multi-Media is Outstanding

Robert Lance does it again! Witness List will keep you listening and guessing until the last page. The plot has more twist and turns than a coiled python. The use of multi-voice and embedded sound effects are clever and subtle. His innovative use of multi-voice and sound, significantly enhances the intensity and excitement of the book. (genius)! This will be the standard of future audio books. The story will keep you on edge and is impossible to predict the conclusion of the plot. As the story unwinds it keeps you wondering, What Next!

IMO

Love Robert Lances story. Read the book and love the audiobook. The use of multivoice narration and sound effects enhanced my listening experience. It is a unique format and hopefully will become the new norm. The story has twists and turns and keeps you guessing until the end. An engaging story with fabulous characters. Looking forward to more audiobooks from this author and his team.

Great story- performance 1/2 good.

Story is fine. Entertaining and different. No issue there.

I have an issue with the performance. Well... half of the performance. The men’s roles were performed well.

1) The 39 year old “smoking hot” ESL Latina, actually all of the women performed, sounds like a 69 year old German grandma from Saint Paul. All of the women are also indistinguishable from each other by performance. This significantly detracts from the performance and I cringe every time a women speaks since most of them are supposed to be on the younger side of middle age. I just can’t get around this disparity of younger women sounding like a 70 year old. If you listen to her actual performance, it isn’t terrible. She would be fine for the right character but her voice just doesn’t sell THESE female characters.

2) There’s A LOT of random background sounds in the story. Please stop that. I don’t need to hear the ringtone every time he get a call, the garage door opening, or “putting your drink down” or any of the other ridiculous random noises That are built in. It’s just... poorly done and distracting. It gives the whole performance a cheesy fake quality, in my opinion.

For those reading this, the story really is good and worth a listen. Just be prepared you’ll have to overlook some performance annoyances.

What a ride!

I read the paperback and loved it and wanted to hear what the audio book experience was like. I was not disappointed. The character's voices are all engaging and the sound effects made me feel like I was right in the middle of the action. The story has plenty of twists and turns and the author clearly knows his subject matter well. There are all the elements of a terrific suspense/thriller ...gunfights, "man on the run", a love story, shifting identities, and a lot more. I really enjoyed the experience.

New slant on audiobooks

Witness list is well written in a nonstop, what’s next style. The two readers give the listener specific voices for each character which is unusual in my experience with audiobooks. This makes the characters much more real. The addition of sound effects opens a new dimension which adds to the enjoyment of the book.
