Publisher's summary

After witnessing an execution, a resourceful young woman attempts to disappear while being pursued by a hitman and a handsome federal agent.

A helicopter pilot, Jackie Remus, reluctantly agrees to go on a date with one of her clients, but her date is unexpectedly cut short when she witnesses a man being murdered. After narrowly escaping with her life, she is placed into protective custody. When the safe house is breached, Jackie makes a daring escape from both the hired killers and the handsome FBI agent, who wants to return her to protective custody. With a little help from her sly and crafty friend, Monroe, Jackie is convinced she can disappear until the trial. While on her journey to meet with her friend, she solicits help from a few shady but lovable characters along the way. Although she manages to stay one step ahead of the hired killers, the federal agent remains in hot pursuit. Will Jackie reach Monroe before she's captured by the FBI and returned to protective custody? Or will the hired killers silence her first?

Witness Protection is a romantic thriller with some scenes of violence, mild gore, moderate foul language, and intense sexual situations. Holly Copella's books do not contain graphic sex scenes.

Enjoyable Action Story that kept my Interest

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the book to my female friends they would enjoy it more than my guy friends my male friends would all nit pick the books and be bothered much like I was. The story is enjoyable and fun to hear.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

There were small things in the story that just bothered me a great deal that would have been obvious like hello they found her how many time there is a leak in the government? And the fact that the author kept calling magazines in weapons 'clips' bugs the crap out of me. Once or twice fine for a female character. But when the character is the daughter of a Navy Seal Commander she would know the proper name for equipment.

What about Tim Lundeen’s performance did you like?

The narrator has a great voice that kept me engaged and interested in the story. I would listen to more of his work as it was a very enjoyable experience he provided some great characters with a really limited story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is one of the few audio books where I have not really had any big reactions to...I enjoyed it but no big laugh, tears or shocks from it.

Any additional comments?

Love kick-ass heroines..

Picture this: A guy walks up to you in a closed library, he’s handsome as all get out, he’s sweet and funny and you flirt with each other, he gives you his card and tells you to call if you ever need anything and you spend a few minutes having sexual thoughts about him as he walks away. A woman behind you sighs romantically and refers to him as “dreamy” (and I’m thinking this is the hero) and in a few minutes they’re both dead! What..The.. Hell? I absolutely hate it when an author gives you a few minutes to get to know someone really nice, grow to like them, and then kills them off. I have no idea how many times I thought about Harris and Vicki through the rest of the book. It was somewhat ruined for me with that bit of crap happening. I can’t read anything else by this author. Melinda Leigh did that same thing in Hour of Need and I was soooo ticked off at that book, just like this one. If you’re going to kill people off that’s fine BUT don’t let us get to know and like them first. AND THEN she did it again later on in the book. It definitely lost a star because of those two things. As much as I liked the story I couldn’t wait for the book to be over because I worried about whether or not she’d kill Holden off.

That being bitched about let me tell you that Jackie will, without a doubt, kick your butt, and make funny sexual remarks to you, and make you laugh at some of the goofy things she says. I loved her. She was one tough chick. With the killers after her, and the FBI (Holden) after her, to protect her, she was plenty capable of staying hidden and taking care of herself. The one bad guy, Dexter, she totally kicked his butt, while the guys stood around watching. Monroe said it was good “therapy” for her.

I loved Jackie’s father’s old SEAL teammates: Monroe, (crazy) Zach, Ross, Beck, Gil and Kirk. They were all about protecting her from the killers, too.

So, there was an erection mentioned a time or two, for Jackie to make fun of, because of the way they came about. However, there was no sex. Once it started it was fade-to-black. There was swearing and the F-bomb was used 7 times.

As to the narration: He was damn good. His men had sexy voices and the women sounded like women, and he read with terrific emotion. I would definitely listen to Tim Lundeen again.

Enjoyable Listen!

I received this audiobook as a gift from the author and am happy to leave my honest review in thanks. I really enjoyed this story! I can't always say that and I hate leaving bad reviews, so I am happy that this was not the case. I enjoy mysteries, and this one had plenty of action, a strong female lead and it was well written. It also was not a cliffhanger, which I have come to abhor!! I loved the characters, and am hoping there will be more books based on some of them. Looking forward to more books by this author. The narration was great, too!

Decent story and good narration.

This was a decent story. It kept my attention to keep listening. I liked Jackie a lot, she kicked butt, and had a lot of spunk. No crybaby heroine here. This wasn't much of a romance but that was okay.

The story line and plot was good. Fast paced, action, shootouts, fighting, murder and mystery. The story flowed very well from beginning to end.

As for the narration, it was pretty good. The narrator did a good job on the female voice and read with emotion. I would listen to him again for sure.

IS THERE A 2ND BOOK??

Actually, yes, I found that there is. This book is very, very good. I loved the author's development of the characters and their relationships. Jackie is an unwilling witness of a couple of murders and the FBI puts her, or rather, attempts to put her in protective custody until the men responsible are taken to trial. Unfortunately, things don't quite go as planned. The intense action, fantastic humor and the sexual tension all make for wonderful story. Tim Lundeen does a great job of developing the character's voices, keeping them each separate and in character along the way. The humor that is portrayed in the story is felt in the voices. I could have easily have been listening to a movie. I look forward to book 2.

So much to like about this listen!

Any additional comments?

First, let me applaud the genius that was selecting a male voice to narrate a story that was largely from a female perspective. Perfection!!

I loved everything about this listen! The female lead was as tough and competent as they come with the right amount of soft edges to make her relatable. The story had a great mix of twists and turns and out of the ordinary good guys and bad guys. Combine that with a love story that was not too female angsty and enough action to rival any Bruce Willis movie and you get one heck of a listen.

As stated, the narrator was an incredible choice. He gave us a believable female voice and a host of former Navy Seals with relative ease. I will definitely look for more books by him.

This download is totally worth it!
