Publisher's summary

Three-time author and female business leader Julia McCoy brings multiple genres together in her electrifying, non-fiction true story, Woman Rising: A True Story, guaranteed to have you listening for hours.

Growing up under a narcissistic cult leader, Woman Rising: A True Story tells the unbelievable true story of one woman’s journey from trauma to triumph. Julia’s ability to defy the odds and rise up despite a terrible upbringing, build a business empire, and find her complete life path - through recovery and healing, to personal and professional success as a woman CEO is told in Woman Rising: A True Story.

“....with vivid imagery and eloquent language, Julia immerses the reader in her story of a difficult childhood while also providing guideposts for self-discovery along the way. This is a brave and important work.” (Anna LeBaron, author, The Polygamist’s Daughter)

Woman Rising: A True Story is best-selling non-fiction author, entrepreneur, and content marketing expert Julia McCoy’s debut narrative nonfiction memoir.

This narrative true story of female leadership, post-trauma survival, and entrepreneurial success is told in two parts:

  • Part 1: Life in a Cult
  • Part 2: The Making of Success

Overview

In part one, experience the painful, tragic story of Julia's upbringing, and how she was born into the house of a cult leader in Pennsylvania. Feel her passion and energy come alive as she pursues bold, money-making ideas at a young age, eventually building a brand. Hear about the night she escaped his house, in 2012 at 21-years-old.

In part two, follow Julia on an unbelievable (true) journey of discovering normal life, finding faith and healing, getting married to the man of her dreams; becoming a parent, best-selling author, and the creator of four successful brands in very competitive industries.

Some parts of Woman Rising: A True Story, especially Julia’s childhood in a cult told in transparency, are disturbing (be warned).

Her strength led me to mine

I just completed this book and 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗟𝗬 recommend if you want to be inspired by 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚!...⁣

This book found its way to me after listening to 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮 on Shay Rowbottom podcast. Her story got to me and I just needed to hear it all! ⁣

There were times where I could barely stand to get through some of her chapters. My anger grew at moments and I had to stop, but I kept pushing through, knowing she had her light at the end of her tunnel. and in return..she helped me push through to mine.⁣

I cried when it was over.. I felt like I said goodbye to my friend that I've been having coffee with daily for years...swapping dark stories of our pasts and getting each other through rough times. Mine not nearly as horrific as hers, yet I still relate to her story in so many ways. ⁣

𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮, I cannot thank you enough for writing this book! You are a beacon of light for us lost souls that have been taken advantage of and made to feel out of place. There is so much more I could say to you on here but without getting too personal, I'll leave it at that. I am so grateful for you and I wish you continued success! 💜 Dianna

What a horrible yet refreshing story

By horrible, I mean what happened to Julia was tragic and she turn a terrible situation into an inspirational success. I recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with fear, anxiety or just needs to be lifted up.

Inspirational

Julia's determination, courage, resourcefulness,, and ascension makes an indelible mark...and evidently, there's a lot more to go. Kudos to her husband for knowing when to push, pull, or let go.
