About this listen

The fourth in the Faithful and the Fallen series from John Gwynne, an epic fantasy perfect for fans of George R. R. Martin, Brandon Sanderson, and David Gemmell.

Events are coming to a climax in the Banished Lands, as the war reaches new heights. King Nathair has taken control of the fortress at Drassil and three of the Seven Treasures are in his possession. And together with Calidus and his ally Queen Rhin, Nathair will do anything to obtain the remaining Treasures. With all seven under his command, he can open a portal to the Otherworld. Then Asroth and his demon-horde will finally break into the Banished Lands and become flesh.

Meanwhile Corban has been taken prisoner by the Jotun, warrior giants who ride their enormous bears into battle. His warband scattered, Corban must make new allies if he hopes to survive. But can he bond with competing factions of warlike giants? Somehow he must, if he's to counter the threat Nathair represents.

His life hangs in the balance - and with it, the fate of the Banished Lands.

So much great writing and so much lazy writing

I loved a lot of things about this series.. but the tedious lazy writing when it came to the rivalries was just so lazy feeling and soooo convenient. Maddening. Could of been much better but it was still a very good series

Decent finish

It took until the final 6% of this series for the stakes to arrive. While this was a decent ending it still lacked the special qualities to make it great

Satisfying conclusion

I enjoyed the series and plan on reading more from this author. The conclusion was well done.

Didn’t want the story to end!

So well written, so many characters and layers to the storyline. Wish there were more books to the series!

The whisper yelling of the narrator

Story is good if relatively predictable. The action scenes where people are supposed to be yelling ect is super irritating. Remember when you were a kid and you’d pretend to be the crowd at a baseball game cheering for yourself? Yeah. That.

I did enjoy the few twists at the end tho!

Rousing finale!

Gwynne makes the motivations and perspectives of every character interesting and understandable. No one is safe! Good or evil, no one is more than a sword thrust away from danger or death.

Decent series

Series started strong. Ended well but became rather too predictable for me. A particular villain(won’t name them) seemed to evade death too many times for no reason other than to make me roll my eyes. Another character spent their time in and out of capture far too much for my liking and was essentially an eternal damsel in distress. The narrator was decent though some of his pronunciations really got under my skin at time. However, I’d say it this was a worthwhile experience. Check out the series.
