About this listen

Marnie Baranuik is confident that her new psychic detective agency will be a great success, and she has eight million business cards to prove it. But before the paint even dries on her open for business sign, she's summoned to face the Demon King Asmodeus in His own playground, the revenant court, home of the undead nobility, to participate in a conclave of the most powerful immortals on Earth.

Orc prophets have forewarned her that danger is looming in the far north. In her most ambitious adventure yet, Marnie must harness her powers, gather trusted friends to wade into battle, and complete an international treasure hunt that would make Indiana Jones break into a cold sweat, before raising a new revenant house to rule from the Unhallowed Throne...and do it all without getting her heart or legs broken. Storms are brewing, threats are piling up, and the stakes are higher than ever, but Marnie is determined to dance with danger to the very end. There's only one thing left to do: deal with it, Baranuik-Style. Does anyone know if yetis like take-out? And when you're on a date with a mummy, who picks up the check?

My New Fave Series

So there’s something about Marnie- she’s like the every- woman ... hilarious, bad-a##,nut-cake who pulls off some crazy, yet always good-hearted mayhem. I want to hang around with this chick.. And I’m mad at Harry. Really mad.But you can be sure that I pre-ordered the next one!

This Does Not Have a Happy Ending

I have loved this series from the beginning and eagerly looked forward to this fourth book in Marnie Baranuik's world. It has revenants, ogres and yetis, on my. This was a delightful installment in the series because there was so much more humor than I would have expected. I actually got to read a love scene between Marnie and Mark Batten! I was floored! Marnie has to work with Mark and Declan Edgar to claim three rescue items to put Declan's mother in the revenant throne and the things the three of them go through are a riot. Then, right after Marnie and Mark make love, he says they need to split up to save time. I should have seen the end coming, yet I didn't. Here's a big spoiler for you: the oh, so wonderful author KILLED BATTEN! I am so sad and angry right now and I feel betrayed. I absolutely hate it when authors make you call in love with a character and then kill him. Listening to Amy McFadden narrate this book, especially the end, was almost traumatic. What I mean by that is she delved really deep to get into Marnie's psyche and when she was helpless to save Batten, was helpless to keep Harry from being the one to kill Batten, Amy's voice was a catalyst for everything Marnie was feeling. This made me so emotional that I ugly cried, sobbed out loud, through the whole death scene. Amy did exactly what she was supposed to do. She wrung every bit of emotion out of the story, and me, as she possibly could. I cannot praise her performance high enough. It's the story I am infuriated with, not her.

Marine Baranuik series

I've really enjoyed listening to this series. It has everything one could want in a book to keep you wanting more, from the author. The narrator does a good job of making you feel for the characters .

Love this series!

The story was a little slow getting started this time but the crude humor I like made up for that. This story kept me listening without pause to
the end and oh what a ending. This narrator is awesome love the way she puts these characters to life it makes the story even better. I can't wait
for next book please make it fast! Thanks

The awesome adventures of Marnie continue

A.J. Aalto keeps the escapades of a kooky and playful Marnie flowing effortlessly in this new episode of her life. The book is an attention holding, emotionful whirlwind that had me repeatedly laughing out loud, grimacing with disgust, and tearing up with sorrow. The characters within can likewise steal your heart or have you cursing them and hoping for their demise from one chapter to the next. I have favorites that always bring a smile to my face whenever they make a reappearance and others I anticipate revisiting in future books. Amy McFadden, in my opinion, does full justice to this awesome tale with her wonderful narration. She has a spectacular way of bringing life to the characters with her accents, attitudes and tone of voice. All in all I have appreciated this book, along with the earlier books in the series. I will be adding it to my "repeat read" list and keep an eye open for the next addition to the Marnie Baranuik Files, aka, Bare Hand Services for hire.

Marnie is getting better

I believe that she is developing a back bone against these asshole men. It bothers me that she gets spoke to the way she does. She seems.to mow actually take offense
