Publisher's summary

From her first step onto Canderfey University's campus, Joanna Wick, the new librarian-in-training, is overwhelmed by the bustle of people and the wealth of magical information now available to her. Most overwhelming of all, she attracts the attention of three handsome professors. But Aiden King, Callum Pike, and Isaac Metclaffe are a coven waiting to find their fourth and complete their home, and Joanna knows she can't be that witch. She's barely magical.

Aiden has been waiting 20 years to complete his coven. Callum doesn't want to disappoint his covenmates by turning down another potential fourth. Isaac has found a home with them both and only wants the best for his lovers. Have they found what they've all been waiting for in the skittish new hire at the university library?

good story seemed a bit rushed

Overall a good story with an interesting concept and world building. The FMC has some self esteem issues but is still confident in her own way. It helps keep it more realistic considering her background and the fast pace of change that happens around her. I would have liked a bit more relationship building and character development, the story seemed a bit rushed but it did hint that there was some magical tie pushing the Coven together so perhaps that can account for the "instalove" vibe. I did enjoy the different personalities but hope the angst shifts in a different direction as the series goes on away from the self esteem issues so it shows growth and doesn't get repetitive, we shall see! Narration was fantastic.

Such a lovely story!

It was an amazing story. But what I loved most was the female narrator! She made me picture Keira Knightly. The male narrator put a little too much drama in the sex scenes for my tastes. Overall, I loved it!

creative and lovely

this book was wonderful. a very sweet poly romance with great world building and edge of your seat magical drama. all the character were also so interesting and didn't have the usual red flags of pathetic main character and toxic love interests.

A lovely story

This book checks all my interests. I am happy I found it. It is an easy listen with wonderful narrators. Both were new to me but I loved their narration.
I wasn't too fond of Joanna at first due to her timidness but this was explained as the story got established. I am not exactly sure which of the three men was my favorite. I think all three! Their relationship before Joanna was beautifully portrayed. Their dedication to each other unquestionable and when Joanna came to their "world", their happiness was undeniable.
The author's world-building and explanations were so colorful and realistic that I felt a part of the story. It was joyful to listen to the unusual yet sensual way books, words, music, and art was weaved into the story.
I see there are 3 more and I intend to get them all.
I would disagree with reviews that paint Joanna unfairly. She comes from a small village. She had never traveled anywhere. She's been with her immediate family before she came to be a librarian. Moon does a great job exploring and at times exploiting Joanna's insecurities in this novel. To me, this made it more relatable.
Definitely worth a credit.

don't know how I feel about the narration

the story is good and I can't really fault the narrators.

but personally, Cornell Collins' voice sounds like it would be good for children's books, but when put in a sex scene, it seems kinda comedic. also kinda horrific thinking of someone who could be narrating Paddington Bear suddenly dirty talking. visually it would be like having an English gentleman commentating on a sex scene as if it was a tennis match or a museum tour. a tad bit distracting lol

this review is for all 4 books in the series

If you enjoy sappy romantic frivolous nonsense this book is for you.
This book had true potential but was really only a really simple and straightforward love story where the love just appears for no reason I can see. Joanna has an almost constant woe is me attitude "oh these men are so amazing and I'm so worthless" over and over again. It gets ridiculous and frustrating really fast. She has no spine or self respect and her conviction that she's worthless without magic sickens me. she does mostly get over this by the end of the series but not in a way that makes sense to me. Then she figures out that she has magic she's imeadelety on board with the relationship. At 27 years old I would expect her to not act like a 13 year old. Then she tries to leave them for their own good and 10 minutes later she's fucking Aiden and promising to never do it again.
Everything in this series happens way too fast and way too easily, there is little to no tension or build up. I almost think she wrote the sex scenes first and the rest of the story was just filler, The only reason I continued with this story after the first book is because I liked the idea of a librarian Wordsmith so much. I wish a different author had had the idea though, one that could do it justice. I don't think this author ever got the advice; show don't tell. It's good advice for authors and I wish she would do more of it. she also has a weird obsession with the word stomach, she used it constantly and before the first book was even over I wished I could take that word out of her dictionary. I feel like a good editor would have at least mentioned something like this to her.

At first I didn't think I liked the narrator's but by the end of the series I thought they were pretty good, they just took some getting used to.

Great listen!

I originally downloaded this to listen on a road trip because I saw Kathryn Moon's name and I clicked. I am a big fan of her Omegaverse books and really enjoyed her writing style so I thought I'd give it a shot. I enjoyed writing and will continue to listen to/read this series.

Written starts with a librarian named Joanna who is offered a librarian position at a magical university library. She's thrilled but feels insecure in her place there as she is not a witch. The FMC meets the MMCs very soon in the book, I believe it's chapter 1 or 2 but the tension build-up is great, especially with the narrators. The MMCs felt a little flat at the beginning but halfway through I feel like I was able to get to know them a little better. Add romance, danger, magic, and, lust, it's a read listen!

A happy little read!

I one-shotted this audiobook while on a long trip. Managed to cover ~500 miles and barely remember a minute of the actual drive. Narrators did a great job. Everything moved at a nice pace. Was interesting enough to keep me immersed in the story. The characters were well-developed with their own unique personalities. The relationships between the love interests went deeper than just “ooh pretty! Must bang!” The steamy scenes were mildly spicy without being overly cringey. There was a clear and concise plot line. It was an easy, comfortable read and I look forward to the next book.

Beautifully written, wonderful characters

I loved this story and I can't wait to dive into the next book. The author may be writing RH paranormal fiction but she writes like it's classic literature (best way I can explain it). I love the romance between the main characters and can't wait to learn more about them and more about this world of witchcraft as the story progresses. I liked how this book wraps up a story without a chiffhanger going into book 2 and provides just enough information and world building in book 1 without dragging the story down like some fantasy books can. It managed to keep this book really fast paced which should satisfy fans of the RH genre especially with such a good balance of explicit spice and beautifully woven story.
