The storyline was interesting; but I felt it could have been further developed. It was written as if someone you knew was just “relaying” a story they heard and “re-describing” the characters, sometimes with a litany of descriptors, e.g., “her high cheek bones, green eyes, full potty lips, perfectly symmetrical features, all set against her olive skin, along with her mane of thick dark hair…”
Geez, there’s something about characterizing a female this way that seems a little unoriginal.

The virtual narrator mispronounced several words which distracted from my following and enjoying the story, e.g., taco is pronounced “tay-ko.” Jamel is pronounced two different ways: “Jay-Mel” and “Jah-Mel.”

The story was good enough for me to ignore the utterly gyrating AI narration. Horrible narration aside, the story was gripping. I love legal thrillers and this one didn’t disappoint. Think I will physically read the rest in the series though. I can’t with the narration.

This was a great listen! I usually stick to true crime but this was believable enough to keep me listening!

Being read by AI did the story injustice! The sentences were choppy and there were pauses in the middle of sentences making it hard to follow at times. One of the main characters names was pronounced three different ways by the same character in the same sentence!
I will never again listen to a book read by AI!
Do your authors a favorite and not use AI .

I found this book to be engaging and interesting because the author gave details and personal insights without getting bogged down. the result? a story that has me wanting to listen to part 3, which is about the trial

back to back sentences say the same thing using different words. That, and sequential repetition. There were too many instances where the author, if it was a real author, relayed a concept, made a point or observation then immediately did it again with a slight variation. Get my point?

First- AI is NOT a narrator! This was close to impossible to follow with the AI narration. No emotion, no character voice changes-you can’t distinguish which character is speaking.
Second-because of AI, the storyline got lost.
No real clue of what this book is about.
Couldn’t even finish it.
