You Need this Audiobook!

I recently finished "You Are Not a Fraud!" and I absolutely loved it. The author dives deep into the complex and often debilitating world of Imposter Syndrome and provides invaluable insights and empowering strategies for breaking free from the grip of Imposter Syndrome. I particularly appreciate the analogy the authors make about imposter symptoms: the intense pressure a person feels when they get something right shouldn't be stealing the joy of their accomplishments. The root of this problem--the feeling that one can never measure up or will never be good enough--usually starts early, in the subconscious mind, and continues to negatively affect their lives thereafter. This book realistically describes how to combat the imposter feelings buried deep within. The narration is exceptional and I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever felt like a fraud despite their achievements.

Imposter Syndrome and More

This book accomplishes more than the typical imposter syndrome book. First, it provides research from the field of neuroscience to explain both the basis for imposter syndrome and strategies to rewire our neural pathways to change our self-perception. Second, much of what the author advises–engaging in mindfulness, avoiding mental filtering and other ways we ignore facts when developing a self-image, setting reasonable expectations, and more–applies to more than imposter syndrome but to many aspects of self-esteem.

A Voice For Self Compassion!

I relate to this condition. In the Army, by nature of the service, I was constantly thrust into new and different positions, each with its own unique set of skill requirements, bosses, and people entrusted to my care. In each role, I went through a season of self doubt. What qualifications did I have to do this new job? Did I really belong in this organization?

I'm grateful there's a word for (and techniques to overcome) this thing called "Imposter Syndrome" which all of us go through from time to time. I learned a lot about self compassion and self awareness and mindfulness - Highly Recommend!
