Publisher's summary

In this informative and entertaining book, learn from Cousin Sal how not to gamble your life away - along with many other life lessons - so you don't have to learn the hard way.

Over the last 40 years, Cousin Sal has made bets with doctors, lawyers, teachers, agents, bookies, writers, comedians, radio DJs, TV producers, baseball players, front office executives, bandleaders, movie stars, publicists, weed lab owners, hedge fund operators, and even professional wrestlers. From his early days growing up in Brooklyn and Long Island flipping baseball cards to now hosting podcasts and TV shows and managing several offshore accounts we don't talk about, Cousin Sal has truly become the average American sports fan's go to source for gambling tips.

So here's how not to do it....

With hilarious tales of love and loss, winning and (a lot) of losing, crazy family and fatherhood, and a life saga that inspired the Phil Collins' song, "Against All Odds", Cousin Sal has now written THE Vegas super-system, MIT-algorithmic, sharp-approved book for how to gamble like a pro - or at least not how not to go broke and lose your kids to Child Protective Services.

Critic reviews

"If you think the way I do, then you must be asking yourself if this truly is the most ridiculous cover for a book you've ever seen. Just wait...when you open the book, it actually makes the cover look normal. It's not dark yet, but it's getting there. Cousin Sal is a very smart and brilliant man with as humble a heart as I've been around. He wants to make others happy and sometimes he does with his checkbook. But I am truly lucky to call him a friend. For life. You will love this book." (Tony Romo)

"For the last two decades, Cousin Sal has been the Gambling Butch Cassidy to my Gambling Sundance Kid - and that's a crucial analogy, because they both died at the end of the movie." (Bill Simmons)

"Sal's a good father and husband, and I have never seen him take a drink. But he makes up for it by being the most degenerate gambler I have ever seen." (Johnny Knoxville)

"A rollicking...account of the foibles of a man who’ll bet on anything." (Kirkus)

Great listen. If you like Cousin Sal, read this!

Great listen. Funny stories. I could not put it down. Cousin Sal did not disappoint. The ending was a good cliff hanger for the next book.

The voice of a degenerate gambler’a generation

The book is an easy read and if you enjoy Cousin Sal’s podcasts, you will like his narrative a lot. I found myself laughing throughout and attempted to reread various parts to my girlfriend to show her I wasn’t the only idiot that acts in this manner. She, like Sal’s wife, also wasn’t laughing. This book also has some very touching and revealing moments in regards to the people that Sal has come across throughout his life, so you do get the full range of emotions. This book is great and I also purchased the hard copy. Overall, I got through the whole book within 24 hours and actually had to work both days so I literally couldn’t put it down.

Hilarious

Hilarious and endlessly entertaining. I love that Sal voices it as well. You can tell it’s not read from a professional, which makes it all the more relatable and endearing. Wish I had more from Cousin Sal

Hilariously Entertaining

I enjoyed every minute of this book! I've listened to Cousin Sal for the better part of a decade and his life and stories never cease to entertain. A great listen/read for anyone who even knows someone who is into sports, gambling, or humor.

Screwed in kid

Hilarious stories and love that Sal read his own book. I can’t stand when memoirs aren’t read by the author.

Cousin Sal is Something else! Haha

Great short stories. Sal tells them vert well. I’m glad he did the reading for the audiobook. Definitely recommend this for anyone just looking for a fun listen/read. You don’t need to be knowledgeable in betting and gambling to enjoy, or to realize that Sal is the best and worst example of a professional gambler! Haha

Sal is a brilliant comedic catalyst to any conversation on any topic: Never been a gambler but I listen to Sals podcast and it’s always a great listen.
