About this listen

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Can’t get enough of Joe Goldberg? Don’t miss the latest thriller in Caroline Kepnes’s compulsively enjoyable You series, with an all-new plot not seen in the blockbuster Netflix show.

“Fiendish, fast-paced, and very funny.”—Paula Hawkins, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Girl on the Train

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY MARIE CLAIRE

Joe Goldberg is done with the cities. He’s done with the muck and the posers, done with Love. Now he’s saying hello to nature, to simple pleasures on a cozy island in the Pacific Northwest. For the first time in a long time, he can just breathe.

He gets a job at the local library—he does know a thing or two about books—and that’s where he meets her: Mary Kay DiMarco. Librarian. Joe won’t meddle, he will not obsess. He’ll win her the old-fashioned way . . . by providing a shoulder to cry on, a helping hand. Over time, they’ll both heal their wounds and begin their happily ever after in this sleepy town.

The trouble is . . . Mary Kay already has a life. She’s a mother. She’s a friend. She’s . . . busy.

True love can only triumph if both people are willing to make room for the real thing. Joe cleared his decks. He’s ready. And hopefully, with his encouragement and undying support, Mary Kay will do the right thing and make room for him.

Shirley Jackson was inspired to write the novel after reading about a group of psychic researchers who spent time in a house believed to be haunted. In an essay, Jackson explained that she was less interested in the investigation itself and more intrigued by what could be learned about the people conducting the investigation. If you're a fan of the super creepy Netflix series, here's the lowdown on how the two chilling incarnations stack up.

Will he ever learn?
Joe is back at it again with his unusual shenanigans, and I’m here for all of it! You Love Me by Caroline Kepnes picks up some months after all that took place in Hidden Bodies, which might leave you wondering, what did we miss? Well, Joe has found the newest “apple of his eye,” librarian Mary Kay DiMarco; however, unlike his other “loves,” Mary Kay is a mom and has a lot going on, more than Joe would like. In the true spirit of Joe, he decides that he is the man who will help her straighten out her priorities, especially if it’ll leave room for him. And while Hidden Bodies fans may have questions about what happened to Love or the baby, you’ll get no spoilers from me! With an as-always stellar performance from Santino Fontana, You Love Me is an amazing listen. It’s full of hilarious, dark commentary—perfect for those of us with a weird and twisty sense of humor. —Nicole R., Audible Editor

Yes!! Joe Goldberg is Back!!

I am a sucker for a good villain. Kepnes created Joe years ago in a sort of 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' fashion, albeit Joe has more redeeming characters than Tom Ripley ever did. He's an animal lover, he's good with children, and he's got great taste in clothes and books.

I was wondering how Kepnes was going to get Joe out of jail from the end of the last book, but she worked it out.

I loved the audiobook- the voice was perfect, the character came to life all over again in true form and I listened every second I could to see what would happen next.

I LOVE that Kepnes kept the character true. The twisted sense of humour, the morbid sarcasm, and the need to rescue girls and have them fall in love with him.. all on point. I am so glad she's continued on with this series. 'Providence' was a nightmarish novel but Kepnes has redeemed herself with another 'Joe' book and I really can't wait for the next one!

This is a guilty pleasure, and I am definitely Team Joe!

Different but good

I had to know what was going on with Joe after that second book. This one wasnt my favorite but it was still worth the listen. A lot of surprises in this book.

Joe is Back

It's good, but definitely not as good as the previous two. It kept me interested for the most part, but I feel like I was always waiting for something to happen, and for there to be a point-- it just never happened (for me, at least). I feel like the story totally fell flat. Santino Fontana's performance was amazing as always, and is possibly the only reason I am not more disappointed.

Slow

I love the first 2 installments of the You trilogy. Santino Fontana is an amazing performer and is the only reason I was able to get through this book completely. The story was painfully slow, including mundane details about unimportant things. It finally got going towards the end tricking me into being a little more satisfied with the story than originally.

Listen to this book!!!

This is only the sixth audiobook I’ve listened to, but this is by far the best performance I’ve heard thus far. Santino Fontana did an amazing job, especially with female voices, which can make or break some audiobooks for me.
As far as the actual book, I stayed invested in the story line throughout the entire book. I found Joe to be quite a dynamic character from the first book to this last one. There were some twists that I genuinely did not see coming and I enjoyed that. I would definitely recommend this book!

Was worth the wait, but wait...

So.. I had to take a star away :/
The big twist was boring and not really thrilling at all!

I love this narrator, Santino. However some of his female voices sounded a lot like Nikki from "Little Nikki" and it was almost unbearable to hear in this book. I think maybe I should have read it, but the last few weren't this off. The ending wasn't great.. overall it was worth the credit and the wait!

Story... okay.... narration.... fantastic!

I think this book was just okay. I don’t think it’s bad, and if you’re invested in the overall story, definitely read it. It was not as compelling as the first two in this series—the characters really didn’t scream interesting, either. If I had to listen to MK go, “OH JOE” one more time... I was going to lose it.
But needless to say, Santino was INCREDIBLE as always. I really think he’s the reason this book has a higher rating for me—he’s just a fantastic narrator.

I’m hoping this book sets us up for a can’t-put-it-down fourth book!

Santino is an incredible narrator. 👏 I love how this book is written. Caroline has done it again, but even better than the last one ! the ending was NOT something I saw coming. very excited for what happens to Joe in the next book. ❤

Not like the Netflix show!

Struggled with this book because of most wording being cussing and storyline lacked the excitement of the first & second ones.
