Publisher's summary

Blood is thicker than water...

Having endured more than their share of tragedy, sisters Lily and Sasha embark on a dream holiday - only to find themselves in hell. Kidnapped by a rich madman, Sasha is sold into slavery, while Lily is forced to join The Collection, a unique bevy of exotic beauties enduring frequent horrors at the hands of elite bidders. However, no amount of pain and suffering will break Lily, who will stop at nothing to save her younger sister. Possibly with help from an unlikely ally.

Love is stronger than loyalty...

Attempting to prove his allegiance to his employer, Jake is tasked with guarding the unruly and uncontrollable Lily. He can't afford to help her in her quest to free Sasha - not if he hopes to fulfill his own agenda. But in their dark, gritty, tension-filled world, solace is taken wherever it's found. Bonds are formed and hearts engage despite Jake's resistance and both their attempts at self-preservation.

When certain secrets come to light, the resulting explosion has breathtakingly bittersweet consequences that, by the end, may not leave everyone whole...or alive.

should have read it instead of listening to it

personally, I liked the story but the female narrator ruined part of it for me. she is supposed to be Australian but it sounds like peppa pigs british mother instead of a young Australian girl. it was hard for me to stop getting annoyed with her voice. I should have read this book instead of listening to it.

Edge of my seat

Where does You Loved Me at My Darkest rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I think the narrators did a fantastic job on this audiobook. I had already read this book and knew I would love it on audio. I was not disappointed this would make the top of my list.

What did you like best about this story?

Jake and Lily's romance.

Have you listened to any of Emily C. Michaels and Lorenzo Matthews ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't but they did a great job. I especially liked Lorenzo.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was on the edge of my seat. Wondering how it would all work out. Sometimes it was even hard to listen too. But worth it for me.

Any additional comments?

This book does have a very heavy storyline. This is not an easy breezy read/listen. You will feel something. I like books that have struggles and the couples have to work it out. I like books that aren't safe. This book had it all.

Trite and basic

The story was predictable and ended neatly wrapped in a bow. When a character goes on and on beating herself up for something beyond her control it gets boring, but in this case Eliza was a bit too forgiving of herself and her dude for what happened to her sister. The story would have been far more interesting if the guilt created a gulf and they crossed it in spite of blame or hatred. The goal of this book was the HEA not the story.
