#071 Jim Comer (on Being Kind and Being Correct)

  • Summary

  • Jim is a speechwriter and speech coach, speaker and author and has spoken on presentations skills in 27 states, Canada and Mexico. His clients include CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, candidates for governor of Texas and lieutenant governor of California, and Apollo 13 astronaut Alan Shepard. His work as a communication consultant in California ended suddenly when his father had a massive stroke, and his mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Jim found himself an overnight parent at the age of 51. He quit his job, moved back to Texas where he had not lived in more than 30 years, and became an overnight caregiver. A published writer, Jim turned his experiences into a book, When Roles Reverse: A Guide to Parenting Your Parents, that was nominated as Best Non-Fiction Book of 2007 by the Writers’ League of Texas. His keynote, “How to Survive Caregiving with Sanity and a Sense of Humor,” has inspired and entertained audiences throughout America.
