Today we took a look at one of the most anticipated movies of the year (and in recent memory), Wicked! Wicked is a 2024 musical fantasy film based on the musical of the same name. Wicked takes place decades before the events of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and follows the story of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) before they become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, respectively. Wicked was directed by Jon M. Chu with music by Stephen Schwartz, with the film covering just the first act of the musical’s story.

Today, we took a look at the 2024 version of the film ‘Speak No Evil.’ Speak No Evil is a psychological thriller starring James McAvoy. In the film, while vacationing in Italy, American couple Louise, Ben, and their daughter Agnes meet and bond with a friendly British family, Paddy, Ciara, and their son, Ant. When the Daltons receive an invitation to Paddy and Ciara’s remote farmhouse in Devon, they hope the getaway will be a refreshing escape from their troubles back home. However, strange incidents and the unsettling behavior of their hosts soon turn the visit into a tense and chilling experience. As the Daltons try to understand what’s happening, they find themselves trapped in a situation far darker than they could have imagined, fighting to protect their family from escalating dangers.

On today’s episode, we break down the new movie “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” the sequel to the original film and the 2nd movie in the Franchise. “Bettlejuice Beetlejuice” picks up in 2024 where Lydia Deetz hosts a supernatural TV talk show, ‘Ghost House’, but her life takes a dark turn when she hallucinates Betelgeuse, the demon who tried to marry her 36 years earlier. Soon after, Lydia learns her estranged father has died, leading her and her daughter Astrid to return to their hometown for his funeral. As Astrid discovers her psychic abilities and befriends a ghost named Jeremy, Lydia reluctantly summons Betelgeuse to rescue her daughter from the Afterlife. A chaotic battle ensues, involving vengeful spirits and a twisted marriage plot, ultimately forcing Lydia to confront Betelgeuse once again. The series follows 8 Mormon TikTok influencers who are a part of what is known as ‘MomTok.’ While this isn’t a typical show in that it doesn’t have a scripted plot, there are still elements of storytelling within the series, as you’ll see as you watch - we did not do our typical ‘Switch-Hit Synopsis, but instead Pavi talked about some of this stuff to set up the rest of the episode.

Today, we welcomed back our good friend Rebecca to help us breakdown ‘Lord of the Rings: A Musical Tale,’ which is a musical inspired by the Lord of the Rings story by J.R.R. Tolkien. The musical follows the same general premise of the movies, with some… interesting… twists and changes. There is a WHOLE lot to unpack with this one.

‘A Musical Tale’ has had 3 productions prior to coming to Chicago. It was originally performed in Toronto in 2006, London in 2007, and Berkshire, UK in 2023. The production has changed drastically over the course of its run, being scaled down for 2023’s show and beyond. The musical was written by Shaun McKenna & Matthew Warchus, with music by A.R. Raham, Varttina, and Christopher Nightingale.

George empathizes with Prince Charles, and together they convince King James to open Parliament for the first time in six years to address higher taxes and peace with Spain. Amidst political chaos, Sir Edward seeks to arrest George and Kit, who then flee to Mary for help; George frames Sir Francis for treason with Diego's help in exchange for arranging a marriage prospect for Prince Charles, leading to Sir Francis Bacon's conviction and Sandie's murder with George's permission.
