  • #4 - B-1 LANCER
    Oct 31 2024

Welcome to the 4th episode of the Aircraft Legends Podcast and today we’re diving deep into one of the most feared bombers in the late history. It’s the B-1 B Lancer – nickname Bones! With its sweeping variable-geometry wings and powerful afterburning engines, the B-1 can fly at speeds over Mach 1.2. Its low radar signature and ability to hug the terrain at low altitudes make it hard to detect and intercept. The B-1B is armed with a massive payload capacity of both conventional and nuclear weapons—making it one of the most feared bombers in history. However, the bones are incredibly costly to keep in the air – which is the main reason why the B1 Fleet is being sundowned in the years to come. But until then, the B-1 stays a key part of the U.S. Air Force's long-range strategic bomber fleet.
