    Dec 23 2024

The baseball world lost one of its all-time greatest players this past weekend when stolen base king Rickey Henderson passed away at the age of 65. The first-ballot Hall of Famer and larger-than-life character left behind a legacy that will forever be untouchable in the game he so adored.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the legacy of the former ten-time All-Star and 1990 AL MVP, his impact on the game during his playing days and how his flashy style is still being felt in the game today, as well as his impressive longevity in a career that spanned 25 years, culminating in a first-ballot induction into Cooperstown.

  • Yankees trade for Bellinger, MLB’s report on injury epidemic, Arenado blocks Astros deal
    Dec 19 2024

Brian Cashman and the New York Yankees struck again in their post-Juan Soto pivot, this time acquiring former MVP Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs. While pitching has been at the forefront for the Bronx Bombers so far this offseason, acquiring the two-time All-Star slugger is the first move in trying to assemble an offensive lineup that Cashman hopes will get the Yankees back to the Fall Classic in 2025.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the deal, which many thought was inevitable, why Yankee fans should temper their offensive expectations for Bellinger and why the Cubs were more than happy to dump his salary after acquiring Kyle Tucker. The guys also try to figure out where the Yankees will play the Gold Glove winner, since they have needs in the outfield and at first base and why New York needs to make more moves to avoid this offseason being declared a failure.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake & Jordan break down the report issued by MLB on their findings regarding the elbow injury epidemic currently facing the game. They discuss the key takeaways from baseball’s findings and offer a few possible solutions to help fix the problem. The guys then talk about Nolan Arenado blocking a trade to the Houston Astros, the Baltimore Orioles signing Tomoyuki Sugano and make their picks for The Good, The Bad & The Uggla.

  • Cubs, Yankees make big trades, A’s spending conundrum & MLB in Vietnam
    Dec 16 2024

The Chicago Cubs have been in need of a big-time player to join their lineup and improve their offense after a disappointing 2024 season. Late last week, they finally did so by landing one of the most coveted trade chips on the block: Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the blockbuster trade that sent the three-time All-Star to the Windy City and why it doesn't matter that the Cubs had to trade a few notable prospects to land the Gold Glove outfielder. They also wonder why the Astros ultimately traded Tucker and weren't able to get an extension done for him sooner to avoid letting him reach free agency after the 2025 season.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake and Jordan talk about another post-Juan Soto pivot from Brian Cashman, as the New York Yankees acquired the two-time NL Reliever of the Year, Devin Williams, from the Milwaukee Brewers. They then dive into the trade that saw the Tampa Bay Rays send Jeffrey Springs to the Sacramento A’s and how it's a move that will help solve the A’s spending conundrum. The guys close the episode by discussing a few other minor transactions in baseball, the Minnesota Twins being for sale and Jake talks about his MLB findings while in Vietnam.

(2:21) - The Opener: Cubs acquire Kyle Tucker
(16:31) - Jordan’s Prospect Hut: Who the Astros got in the deal
(30:48) - Around the League: Yankees trade for Devin Williams
(45:36) - Rays trade Jeffrey Springs to A’s
