Beeswax Vinyl Daily — January 25, 2025

  • Summary

  • Non-musical history for today: 1971 – Charles Manson and four "Family" members (three of them female) were found guilty of the 1969 Tate–LaBianca murders. I'm sure I've talked about it before. It was gruesome, disgusting, and uncalled for. The perpetrators convicted were Tex Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel, Leslie Van Houten, and Susan Atkins. Linda Kasabian was present at both murders but was given immunity for testifying against Manson and the family. Watson, Krenwinkel, and Van Houten are still alive. Watson has been denied parole 18 times. Krenwinkel was granted parole on May 26, 2022, but California Governor Gavin Newsom put the kibosh on that, stating that she posed an ongoing threat to society. Van Houten had the same thing happen, but an appeals board overturned Newsom's veto. Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for January 25.
