  • 187 – The Legendary Nightmare/Dream Eater: The Baku
    Jan 22 2025

According to Yokai.com, "The baku is a strange, holy beast that has the body of a bear, the head of an elephant, the eyes of a rhinoceros, the tail of an ox, and the legs of a tiger. Despite their monstrous appearance, baku are revered as powerful forces of good and as one of the holy protectors of mankind." However it goes deeper then that. These things legit eat nightmares caused by evil spirits. However, if you summon a Baku, you best have legit bad nightmares. For if it is not satisfied? The Baku will consume your hopes and dreams instead. Also in this recording, Bob shares his fears over a creepypasta. This story is about the Pokémon, Hypno, whom was based off the legendary Baku. Bob plays the terrifying song based off the story as well. This episode is a quickie since just recorded by himself due to bad weather keeping Count Panek and Bob out of the studio. Bob read from this article here from Ancient Origins.net written by M R Reese https://www.ancient-origins.net/myths-legends-asia/baku-legend-dream-eater-002383

  • 186 – Momo The Missouri Monster
    Jan 15 2025

According to the Cryptid Wiki, "First reported in July 1971, near Louisiana, Missouri by Joan Mills and Mary Ryan, Momo has been spotted up and down the Mississippi River. It is supposedly a large, 7 ft (~2.1 m) tall, hairy, black, manlike creature that eats dogs and cats, and emits a terrible odor. Some suggest it was a rogue black bear. Following sightings in 1972 beginning at 3:30 p.m. July 11, first reported by Terry, Wally, and Doris Harrison, and lasting for about 2 weeks, tracks were found and submitted to Lawrence Curtis, director of the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden. He deemed the tracks to be a hoax." But, was it a hoax? One of the witnesses went to her grave believing what she saw was real. Read from an amazing article describing the creature from Missouri Life Magazine here: https://missourilife.com/the-legend-of-mo-mo-the-missouri-bigfoot/ . So what is Momo? Hoax or real?

  • 185 – Sylvia Shults Interview
    Jan 8 2025

If you read Sylvia's about me on her website, it would say, "Sylvia Shults is the author of several books of paranormal nonfiction, including 44 Years in Darkness, Fractured Spirits: Hauntings at the Peoria State Hospital, and Grave Deeds And Dead Plots. She sits in dark, spooky, haunted places so you don’t have to. She has spent the last twenty-five years working at a public library, slowly smuggling out enough words in her pockets week after week to build a book of her own. She lives a short, ten-minute motorcycle ride away from the haunted asylum that features in so many of her books. She considers it the highest privilege to share the incredible, compassionate history of the Peoria State Hospital. After battling an intense, lifelong fear of the dark, Sylvia decided to become a ghost hunter. (What WAS she thinking?) As a paranormal investigator, she has made many media appearances, including a tiny part in the Ghost Hunters episode “Prescription for Fear”, about the Peoria State Hospital." However, if you ask Bob, he'll tell you she is just one of the nicest people he's ever had the pleasure of interviewing. Sylvia comes on the show to talk about her life in the paranormal experiences while investigating, her books, and her background as an author. You can find out more about her her on her website here: https://sylviashults.wordpress.com/ and links to buy her books here: https://sylviashults.wordpress.com/paranormal-nonfiction/

great mix of legends and lore

I started listening to this podcast thanks to Ghostly. It is a great mix of cryptids and the random unexplainable things in this world. I like that the topic vary each episode and it isn't all ghosts or big foot. I would definetly recommend listening to this if you like the weird unexplained things.
