  • “The Manger and the Kingdom”

Today’s reading from Luke 2:1-7 recounts the humble yet powerful birth of Jesus. Born in Bethlehem and laid in a manger, Jesus’ arrival fulfilled prophecy and set in motion God’s plan for redemption. The manger, a feeding trough for animals, symbolizes spiritual nourishment and humility. Jesus, the Bread of Life, offers sustenance for our souls, showing us that God’s kingdom often works through unexpected and lowly means.

The circumstances of Jesus’ birth remind us that God uses what the world may overlook to display His glory. From the poverty of the manger to the majesty of the cross, Jesus humbled Himself so that we could be lifted up as sons and daughters of God. His arrival marked the beginning of the ultimate rescue mission to save humanity from sin and death.

Take a moment today to reflect on how you can express praise and thanks to Jesus for His humility, sacrifice, and love. Let us worship Him as the King who came to serve and save.

What is Advent? It is the season of remembering and rejoicing. We remember Christ’s first coming as a baby born in Bethlehem and joyfully anticipate his second coming, when he will return to renew and redeem every part of the fallen creation. The Advent season is a time to reflect upon God's promises and anticipate their fulfillment.

Join us on this journey of hope.
