  • Cartoon Corner: Rick Goldschmidt
    Dec 20 2024

We're getting into the holiday spirit by welcoming Rankin/Bass historian Rick Goldschmidt onto the show! Rick has a background in illustration and cartooning, with magazine illustrations, editorial cartoons, and caricatures among his early assignments. He labored for years to bring to life a coffee table book chronicling all of Rankin/Bass' specials, films, and TV series, which was finally published as The Enchanted World of Rankin/Bass in 1997. Rick has many stories to tell about our favorite cartoons, including the holiday classics Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.

You can follow Rick on Facebook and Instagram @rickgoldschmidt.

  • Joe St.Pierre
    Dec 18 2024

Veteran artist Joe St.Pierre has a gift for all the good girls and boys this holiday season: a Dollar Bin Bandits interview! But also the Joe St.Pierre Sketchbook 2025, which only has a couple days left in its campaign on Zoop. If you don't know, Joe's been around since the Valiant days, where he pencilled Rai and was the co-creator of the team book Secret Weapons. Since then, he's worked across the industry, including at Marvel (various Spider-Man books), DC (Aquaman, Green Lantern), Image (Megahurtz), IDW (Transformers), BOOM! (Power Rangers), Dynamite, and more! He's also the co-creator of the four volumes of the Fabien Cousteau Expeditions Series published by Simon & Schuster. When not comic-booking, Joe is a commercial and storyboard artist, doing work for clients like MTV, Discovery Channel, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network, The New York Times, Sony, PBS, and Activision.

  • Whitney Matheson
    Dec 16 2024

Whitney Matheson isn't our typical guest. While she does make daily comics, she writes in so many different formats, it's hard to keep track! Whitney's perhaps best known as the creative force behind Pop Candy, the pop culture column/blog that she wrote for over a decade at USA Today. But since then, she's branched out into writing for short films, theater, newsletters, comics, kids' books, and more! Whitney shares a studio with Dean Haspiel in Brooklyn, and just recently published her short story collection, Trudy Sellout, as well as her collection of 2024 diary comics.

You can follow her and her work in so many places: on whitneymatheson.com, on Patreon @whitneymatheson, on Substack whitneymatheson.substack.com, on Instagram @thewhitneymatheson and X @whitneymatheson.
