Ep. 11 Trailer I The Black Community, MMR and Autism

  • Summary

  • Our difficult, but necessary, conversations on The Pan-African Experience Podcast continues.

Eight years after the publication of Dr Brian Hooker’s paper: Measles-mumps-rubella vaccination timing and autism among young African American boys: a reanalysis of CDC data, and 6 years after the documentary, Vaxxed, we revisited the claims made by both projects.

Dr Hooker’s research found that if MMR vaccine is administered to African American children, specifically the boys, they are three times more likely to develop autism.

Dr Hooker’s research was performed with data he obtained from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The CDC disputed this research at the time of its publication.

In next week’s episode of The Pan-African Experience, I will publish my full conversation with Dr Hooker about this research.

The purpose of this conversation was to find out if Dr Hooker still stands by his research and whether the CDC has been able to review/re-analyse their data, to consider the race element, following Dr Hooker’s research.

The Pan-African Experience Podcast contacted CDC/affiliates twice for a comment with regards to the claims made in this episode, but they have chosen not to respond.

Below is an excerpt of the episode, full episode will be published on our podcast platforms (YouTube, Spotify, iTunes, AnchorFM, Google podcast) on 25th May 2022.

I am grateful and honoured to have Dr Hooker on the podcast.
