For decades, these battles of film knowledge have taken place on couches, in theaters, on bar stools and in the gym between (sometimes during) sparring sessions. Paul and Steve are career martial artists, stuntmen and filmmakers who have never kept their opinions to themselves…EVER. With so many great fight films analyzed and dissected, and even more left untouched, Steve and Paul take to the airwaves with a guest each episode for a deep dive into a singular fight scene from a film or television show that will lead down a rabbit hole any fight and stunt nerd would go to the mat to be a part of. THE HOSTS: STEPHEN KOEPFER Stunt performer, filmmaker, renowned coach and martial artist. Stephen is the head coach and owner of NY Combat Sambo in NYC. As an independent filmmaker, he has produced and directed several documentaries and short films that reflect his passion for collaborative storytelling. PAUL VARACCHI Martial artist, stunt and motion capture performer, celebrity chef and has worked extensively in television production in various roles from PA to department head. At the age of 8 Paul’s dad took him to see Robocop and the rest is history!

    Preston Thomas is a lifelong martial artist and cinephile. Film Jitsu is his second feature film as a director and his first documentary. It is about the crossover between the worlds of martial arts, grappling, filmmaking, and stunts. The project’s journey has taken Preston from 87 North in Los Angeles to Breakfall Studios in New York City. He’s interviewed and trained with martial artists and stunt performers at every stage of their careers, from ambitious young hustlers making action short films to industry veterans who have worked on blockbusters like the John Wick series. Appearing in this film are legends and pioneers such as Erik Paulson, Rigan Machado and Gokor Chivichyan.
