  • First Time Running for Office with Allie Phillips, Democratic Nominee for TN House District 75
    Oct 2 2024

Welcome back First Timers! I’m beyond excited to be bringing you an awesome conversation I had with democratic nominee for TN House District 75, Allie Phillips. She's a phenomenal young woman who has turned heartbreak into action.

    Episode Highlights:
-Allie shares her story of why she decided to run
-What starting and maintaining a campaign looks like
-What it's like running as a democrat in a red state

I do want to put a trigger warning on this episode that we will be talking about pregnancy loss so if you’re in a place where you feel you can’t absorb that information right now, we completely understand and encourage to come back if and when you have the capacity.

  • First Time Writing for TV Feat. Eliza Cossio (HBO, Hulu, Comedy Central)
    Sep 4 2024

Hi First Timers! I’m excited to bring my friend, vocal coaching client and writer Eliza Cossio to you today. Eliza is a multi-talented creative but her main gig is writing for TV. TV writing has always really interested me: trying to plan out a season, develop characters, wondering how you even break into that line of work, etc. so I thought I’d sit down with Eliza to have a chat about her journey.

Eliza has written on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (and also Trevor Noah), Taika Waititi’s “This Flag Means Death” on HBO, “This Fool” on Hulu. Her original scripts have been written up in NY Magazine, Vulture, AV Club & Slate Magazine and has premiered works at SXSW. She’s an incredible woman and I hope you enjoy “First Time Writing for TV”.

  • Ep. 5 First Time Being an Expat...Kind Of. (Final episode!)
    Feb 8 2024

I can’t believe it’s our last episode of First Time Being an Expat…Kind Of.

Today, Matt and I are going through our final pros and cons list together and are talking about our takeaways from this incredible, life changing experience. Again, we can’t express enough the amount of gratitude we have for being able to have this kind of experience while so many terrible things are happening around the world right now. The Netherlands holds a very special place in our hearts.

I hope this series and this final episode are helpful for anyone considering moving abroad and thanks again to everyone who has cheered us on during this adventure and listened to this series.

Dank je wel en tot ziens iedereen!
