But of course, he is lying because he desires to assassinate Jesus. God speaks to the Magi in a dream to depart home by a different route. Now think, on the one hand, you have the instructional voice of Herod and on the other hand you have the voice of God instructing them to go a different way. We all face this dilemma at times; listening to the voice of God in a sea of other voices.
