That’s a wrap on Season 1! Because it’s ok for our goals to evolve and transform. It’s ok to pause and re-evaluate our truest intentions and to sit with the limitless options available for our next chapter. And it is most certainly ok– vital, even– to stay true to ourselves despite anyone else’s opinions about it!

This episode was such an honor to bring to fruition. Linda Ruth Dickinson is hands down my favorite living artist and I’ve admired her ability to capture where heaven meets earth on canvas for many years. Having the opportunity to sit with her paintings always brings me such an immense sense of peace, and getting to interview her for this episode was truly transformative. Listen along as Linda takes us into the deeply personal and spiritual way she brings her art to life and shares her greatest inspirations for creating the undefinable and unparalleled beauty seen in her paintings.

I had the great pleasure of touring one of her recent exhibits at UNC Rex Hospital and will have footage of that tour posted on my Instagram page for you to see and get a sense of Linda’s incredible ability to generate peace with her art.

This episode features a very meaningful and eye-opening conversation with accomplished architect, Jason Dail. Jason recently opened his own architecture firm, Felspar, which specializes in designing trauma-informed spaces based on research about how the human body subconsciously responds to its environment. Along with his career as an accomplished architect and photographer, Jason is also a member of the City of Raleigh’s Design Review Commission and is a devoted family man and my first cousin once removed! This episode discusses Jason’s non-traditional path into the field of architecture and the ways he’s seen the field transform during his time as an architect. He also discusses the impact trauma can have on us all and the transformative ways he’s learned to work with and heal from his own history of trauma.

This episode features a very fun interview with award-winning designer, artist, owner of Cordella Bridal, and my former Nordstrom co-worker, the one-and-only Marie Cordella. This candid conversation is full of hot takes and big laughs as Marie and I discuss her journey from a child of the arts to a student at Parsons to becoming a renowned bridal designer, and everything in between. Marie gives us a peek into her process of custom-designing each gown to suit the unique aesthetic of each of her brides. She also takes us through the history of bridalwear, shares her deep reverence for art, fashion, and shoes, and reveals the unexpected reason she chose to go to grad school at NC State’s College of Design over all the rest.
A warning to anyone who may be sensitive to this– Marie also opens up about being in Manhattan on 9/11 and witnessing the profound devastation that occurred.
