  • Episode 1224 - Jarvis Kingston Trust in God’s deliverance and turn away from anything that hinders our relationship with Him. Flee from sin.
    Jan 16 2025
Your Daily Prayer 🙏🏾 Genesis 19:1

Flee from sin as if your life depends on it. Run to Jesus and don’t look back.

Today’s daily devotional is based on the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 19. Lot’s escape highlights God’s mercy and the urgency of fleeing from sin without looking back. This story reminds us to trust in God’s deliverance and turn away from anything that hinders our relationship with Him.
    STORY
Bible in a Year: Sodom and Gomorrah
    Scripture
"But Lot's wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt."

    Genesis 19:26
All the warning signs are there before you. You know that your sins will wreak havoc on your life if you don’t run from them. Are you willing to flee, or will you cling to your sin and embrace the chaos it brings?

Genesis 19 tells a harrowing story of Lot's escape from Sodom and Gomorrah, cities notorious for their wickedness. The angels' visit to Lot and the destruction of the cities is a vivid reminder of the destructive nature of sin and the consequences of a life turned away from God.

It's a stark portrayal of divine judgment, yet we also see a story of mercy and deliverance within it. Lot is warned and given a way of escape, highlighting that even in the wake of judgment, God's grace offers a way out for those willing to take it.

This story isn't just an ancient account of a bad city. It serves as a personal allegory for our spiritual journey. It's about discerning and fleeing from the "Sodom and Gomorrah’s" in our lives—those habits, relationships, and situations threatening to compromise our integrity and relationship with God.

The urgency with which Lot is told to flee is the same urgency we must have in distancing ourselves from sin. Flee and don’t turn back! If you do turn back, you risk freezing in place and remaining stagnant in your faith.
    REFLECTION
Consider what you need to flee from in your life. What are the things holding you back from a full, unencumbered relationship with God? Reflect on the areas in your life that require immediate action. Pray for the strength and courage to not look back, as Lot's wife did, but to move forward towards God's promise and protection.

    PRAYER
    And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
    GENESIS 19:1
My Lord, thank You for continually showing me grace when I am surrounded and tempted with the pleasures of this world. Thank You for protecting me from myself and from foolish decisions I’ve made when I wasn’t thinking in alignment with Your Word. Help me to move with critical obedience when You give a command. I will no longer hesitate when I know the direction You’re calling me to go, I will no longer look back at my past longing for the things that move me off the path of my destiny. Thank You Lord that when You close one season of my life, like Lot and his family, You will provide a safe space for me and my loved ones to dwell in. I thank You for Your protection, Your justice and Your mercy towards me. I can move in full confidence knowing that You’ve placed Your Angels like a fence around my life. I am protected because I am Yours. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.🙏🏾

  • Episode 1223 - Jarvis Kingston I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. Psalms 40:1-2 Psalms 137:1 Prayer
    Jan 15 2025
Your Nightly Prayer 🙏🏾 Psalm 40:1-2

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. -Psalms 137:1

    DEVOTION
    Based on Psalm 137
This psalm is a poignant reflection of grief and longing. The exiles in Babylon sat by the rivers, consumed by memories of Zion—their home, their temple, their place of worship. Their sorrow was a mixture of longing for the presence of God they once felt so closely and the pain of separation from their sacred community. This verse speaks to anyone who has felt displaced or distant from God, reminding us that even in our deepest sorrow, God hears our cries. He sees our tears and invites us to trust that He is with us, even in exile. His promises remain, and His restoration is sure.

Take a moment to sit with your grief or longing. Breathe out your sorrow, and breathe in the assurance of God’s presence. Trust that He is a God of restoration and hope, working even in the places of exile to bring you back to joy.
    A.C.T.S. REFLECTION
ADORATION: Praise God for being a faithful presence, even in times when you feel distant or displaced. Rejoice in His unwavering love and His ability to restore what is broken.

CONFESSION: Confess moments when your faith wavered in seasons of grief or exile. Share your doubts and struggles with God, knowing He understands your pain.

THANKSGIVING: Thank God for how He has comforted you in past sorrows. Acknowledge His faithfulness in every trial, and thank Him for His promises of restoration.

SUPPLICATION: Father, in my moments of grief and longing, draw me close to You. Remind me of Your faithfulness and fill me with hope for the joy that is to come. Help me to trust in Your ability to restore what has been lost.

    PRAYER
“I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.”
    PSALM 40:1-2
Dear Heavenly Father, You have set me on a high mountain. Your loving embrace lifts my spirit and fills me with joy and contentment. You are faithful to me and I praise Your goodness that has been evident in my life. Your promises are sure and you provide for all of my needs. Help me to not be anxious about tomorrow, but to trust in You and Your unfailing love. All of my hope and faith rests in You alone, for I know You are faithful to fulfill your promises. Give me the courage to stand firm in my faith and never waiver from trusting in Your goodness. In Jesus' name, Amen.🙏🏾
