• Episode 38: What Happens When We Share Our Stories
    Oct 23 2024

    Hey, Friend!

I used to be a private person but my little girl taught me in one authentic move that it is more important to show people who you really are on the inside.

But it would be years later before that lesson sunk in. It took a public tragedy in my life, when I could no longer hide my reality, for me to realize that when we authentically and vulnerably share our stories, it connects us.

And those connections are real because we are being real.

    I pray this blesses you!

    Oct 16 2024

I believe that one of the most important skills we can develop is the capacity to make good choices. The choices that I make can affect me now and they can also affect the future me. • Episode 36: Debating without Demeaning
    Oct 9 2024

    Hey, Friend!

I think it is important to make informed decisions so I have been watching and reading everything that comes my way about this presidential election. But I have to admit, I am tired of the meanness.

As I have reflected on elections past, I am reminded that it wasn’t always this way. In today’s episode, I share a story about the leadership example of a particular presidential candidate. Even though he lost, I learned so much from his commitment to debating without demeaning.

Even after his death, he taught me something that I am going to apply moving forward.

I hope you give it a listen!

  • Episode 34: Why A Woman in Ministry Might Need Leadership Training
    Sep 25 2024

    Hey, Friend!

As a coach for Christian women, I get to work with some amazing women in ministry. Some have degrees in ministry; others come to ministry as a second career. But what they all have in common is a strong calling from the Lord to ministry and a desire to be obedient to the call.

As prepared as they are with a formal education and even experience, what women are often unprepared for is the uniqueness of working for a church, a largely male-dominated field.

So, Amanda Box, a communication coach, and I, a leadership coach, partnered together a few years ago to develop an online workshop called:

Leadership Bootcamp for Women in Ministry

In this workshop, we teach foundational leadership skills in a group setting, while creating a community of women who are doing similar work. It is a powerful experience!

I encourage you to go to our website:

    https://leadershipbootcampforwomeninministry.com/

to register. Be sure and scroll down to the bottom and check out some of the testimonials we have received from past participants.

    I pray this blesses you!

In today’s episode, I am going to share with you a strategy for having volunteers that are worth their weight in gold. It requires a different strategy for recruitment and an understanding that once you get these volunteers, you have to take care of them in very specific ways.

  • Episode 31: Qualities of Resilient Leaders
    Sep 4 2024

    Hey, Friend!

For the past couple of weeks, I have been talking about resilience, an important life skill and an essential leadership skill.

In today’s episode, I share some of the qualities of a resilient leader. As you listen, I want you to consider someone you know who you think of as resilient.

What is it about them that seems resilient? Likely, you have witnessed them navigating a setback and you have wondered how they did it.

What about you? How resilient are you? Reflect on times you have navigated setbacks. How did that setback affect you physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially?

If you can identify areas in which you are resilient, celebrate that!

And in the areas where you have identified you need more work, own that and decide the first step you are going to take to develop resilience in that area. And be patient with yourself.

You don’t become resilient by deciding to. You become resilient by practicing. Practice mastering your mindset. Practice doing what resilient people do. Practice asking for feedback about your resilience. Practice adapting to small changes before you tackle the big ones. Most skills are developed by practice and resilience is a skill. It takes practice.

    I pray this blesses you!
