Dominique Ellen Dunne was an American actress, who got her big break starring as Dana Freeling in the horror film Poltergeist in 1982.

On the 30th October 1982, she was strangled by her ex-boyfriend, John Thomas Sweeney, during an argument on the driveway of her West Hollywood home.

She fell into a coma and died five days later. In a court case that gained significant media coverage, John Sweeney was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in Dominique's death, and served three and a half years in prison.

Holmesburg Prison, given the nickname "The Terrordome," was a prison operated by the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Department of Prisons (PDP) from 1896 to 1995. The Nahir Galarza case was an Argentine judicial process, officially called "Galarza, Nahir Mariana s/homicidio doblemente agravado", in which the 19-year-old Nahir Mariana Galarza was convicted of murdering her 20-year-old boyfriend Fernando Pastorizzo, at dawn on the 29th of December 2017, in the city of Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos, Argentina, where both lived.

The case was widely covered by both national and international media. Galarza was sentenced to life imprisonment for homicide, which was aggravated by the fact that she and Pastorizzo were under a stable relationship.
