The idea of pulling a large parachute behind you until the wind catches it, then running down a mountainside until you're swept up into the air… is called paragliding. Some might argue that what was just described sounds more like a nightmare. For professional paraglider, 36 year old Ewa Wisnierska, back in 2007 at the Manilla XC Open - it was a little bit of both.

There's a lot to be worried about when out on the ice. Top of mind would be the threat of falling through. There's no more disconcerting a noise than that of a moaning fracture from beneath. Usually it's just the lake suffering some indigestion, but on Michigan’s Sturgeon Bay, back in January of 1929, a fisherman trying to snag some food almost became it when the black maw to the growling belly below split open in an attempt to swallow him. Lewis Sweet escaped that fate, only to find himself being served on a platter.

A new angle on true crime

Great stories that are well researched and told with just the right amount of detail. Aaron and Jack are good storytellers who bring interesting commentary and their own POV without making it all about them.

This is where it's at!

I can't stand most podcasts, as the commentary often detracts from the content and drags along. Not here! These two have the greatest dynamic, and their commentary adds to the content, as opposed to hindering the story. They bring humor, intellect, and insight, while honoring these very serious historical events. I love listening to them, and is my current favorite! Thanks guys, I'm a huge fan! Keep it up!

Aaron fan here

I have followed Generation Why for many years now. I'm an Aaron fan because I like how he brings the stories across in a caring, respectful, and logical manner. He and his co-podcaster don't disappoint here. I enjoy hearing real life stories about real people with real struggles and (usually) real victory. I hope you guys keep up the good work.
