  • ANGJOLIE MEI, FOUNDER - THE LIFE CELEBRANT
    Oct 15 2024

It has been almost 25 years since we entered the new millenium (the year 2000). We are fast approaching the year 2025, and as a modern society, we should have more open conversations surrounding death, including funeral arrangements.
On this podcast, Simon Lim puts the spotlight on Angjolie Mei, Founder of The Life Celebrant.

Why is it important for individuals or families to pre-plan their own or a family member's funeral? When should someone draft a will and see to insurance coverage, so as to avoid or minimise one's family having disputes or having to pay for any liabilities? In other words, getting one's affairs settled as a pre-emptive measure.

One of the sensitive things regarding funeral arrangements is who makes the decision?. How can family members avoid disagreements or misunderstandings?
Some people have told their family and friends that they do not wish to spend on what they deem to be a lavish funeral - lasting 3 to 5 days. Thus, "The Life Celebrant" has an alternative to a wake and instead it provides a few hours of visitation or memorial service. Find out more from Angjolie Mei.

To what extent has Singapore society changed from our grandparents' or great grandparents' time (when a child’s death was often handled swiftly and silently)?
An interesting service of "The Life Celebrant" is arranging a Living Funeral. This may be considered if one is suffering from a terminal illness and doesn't have much time left with their loved ones and friends. At what point should one arrange for a Living Funeral? For people who've never attended a Living Funeral, will it be as cathartic as a traditional wake or funeral?

Why did Angjolie Mei decide to make a career in the funeral business? Angjolie will also be sharing a good life lesson with you.

Download this podcast and enjoy listening to this interview, where Simon Lim features Angjolie Mei, Founder of The Life Celebrant.

This interview was first heard on the radio show, "NIGHTS WITH SIMON" on ONE FM 91.3, a station of SPH Media in Singapore.
