  • The Reality of Librarians: Stereotypes vs Reality and Patron Horror Stories
    Nov 5 2024
Shaylee and Janessa discuss the various librarian stereotypes they have noticed from different media and the opinions they've heard. They talk about if there is any merit to those stereotypes and how those affect the way people who work at libraries are viewed. The sisters will also be discussing some patron horror stories. When you work with a varied group of people, weird and upsetting things are bound to happen! Content Warning: In the patron horror stories, there are mentions of fecal matter, phlegm, and a distressing situation between an adult and a minor. Please be aware of how these subjects might affect you. You are welcome to listen to the whole episode or skip sections accordingly. Content timestamps: Fecal matter: 27:00 - 28:58 Phlegm: 29:00 - 33:49 Distressing adult/minor encounter: 33:50 - 38:45 A brief correction: Shaylee brings up the game Baldur's Gate 3, but only refers to it as Baldur's Gate. She also brings up the section in Act 2 of the game named The Gauntlet of Shar, but refers to it as The Temple of Shar. They will enact their penance for getting these incorrect by playing even more Baldur's Gate 3... What a terrible fate! The music used in our episodes was created by Zack Barnson.
