At first it seemed like a simple question with a simple answer - but like with most things concerning Pre-Nicene Christianity there turned out to be much more to the story, including the removal of the word 'virgin' from the gospel of Matthew. In 2018, a grave containing a human skeleton was discovered near a construction site on the outskirts of Frankfurt, Germany. Within the 1,800 year-old grave was a clay pot, an incense bowl and upon further examination, a silver amulet was discovered under the jaw of the skeleton. And only now do we know what was written inside the amulet.
