  • Buffalo Bills Biggest Wild Card Round Takeaways
    Jan 14 2025
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over his biggest Buffalo Bills wildcard round takeaways on the heels of Buffalo's convincing win over Denver and how at least some of them my relate to their next opponent, Baltimore in the divisional round. The Bills gave up a big play for a touchdown to Denver on the opening series and then shut the door on them for the rest of the game. Patrick has thoughts on Matt Milano having by far his best game of the season and Von Miller, even without registering the sack turning back the clock with some extremely impressive pass rush reps. Offensively the game plan was obvious from the get go and Patrick's got thoughts on the complete transformation James Cook has made since entering the NFL primarily as a pass catching threat out of the backfield. The Bills running game coupled with the explosive plays that came in the air in the second half is the recipe for making this a long playoff run. They were plenty of other things to like and some not so much, including Taylor Rapp struggling, another special teams blunder and a red zone offense that while not costly against Denver, didn't execute well. Of course, it's all about Baltimore going forward and Patrick's got preliminary thoughts on that matchup and much more. Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. We consider them THE most underrated spot for wings, pizza and other great food in Western New York plus it’s a great place to drink and have a great time. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Blue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.social Instagram: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. • Bills Systematically Destroy Denver (Live Reactions)
    Jan 13 2025
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens shortly after the Buffalo Bills systematically destroyed the Denver Broncos, 31-7 to win their AFC Wildcard game and set up what's expected to an epic clash with Baltimore next week. Joe joins from Florida, where he's staying before a family vacation to Mexico. They talk about a Bills team that overcame a huge play from the Broncos on the first series of the game to methodically pound Denver in submission, just completely dominating in nearly every facet of the game. Buffalo put up 471 yards of offense while possessing the ball for over 41 minutes while allowing Denver just 224 yards of offense, with 43 of that coming on a Bo Nix touchdown pass to Troy Franklin on the fifth play of the game. The guys talk about a Bills team that refused to get panicked under any circumstance and stuck to a running game that the Broncos couldn't stop. They also discuss Josh Allen having another MVP caliber performance and getting several pass catchers involved. Of course even a blowout there's a few plays that really shape a football game and the guys discuss a few of them, including the Ty Johnson miraculous catch on fourth down to take a 21-7 and Curtis Samuel's big 55 yard catch and run for a score to put the game away. They go over all the highlights and a few of the lowlights as well and quickly turn their attention to Baltimore. Get ready for a crazy week! Follow Joe on Blue Sky @BuffaloWins.bluesky.social. • Bills vs Broncos Preview & Bold Predictions (Featuring Ben Allbright)
    Jan 10 2025
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full Buffalo Bills vs Denver Broncos wildcard round preview as well as keys to victory and bold predictions, featuring a segment with Broncos reporter and NFL insider Benjamin Allbright. Many expect the Broncos to be the Bills toughest wildcard round opponent throughout this Josh Allen era. Patrick brings in Allbright, one of the most respected NFL voices in the business who's based in Denver for his expertise. Among the topics discussed during Ben's time is the vibe in Denver following a nine-year playoff drought being broken, the emergence of rookie Bo Nix after witnessing several years of floundering quarterback play, the Denver pass rushers on a Broncos defense that led the entire NFL in sacks this season, what areas of the Broncos should concern their fans the most and a few of the biggest factors in what could be an upset Denver victory on Sunday. From there Patrick goes over what he considers three of the biggest keys to Buffalo holding serve at home and advancing to next week's divisional round, including the defense being on point when it comes to tackling, an offensive line that plays up to the standard they have all season, and avoiding the whacky mistakes that led to Denver winning in Buffalo last season. That plus some fun bold predictions, a final score guess from both Ben and Patrick and much more. • Buffalo Bills Wild Card Round Biggest Talking Points
    Jan 9 2025
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by longtime friend Tone Pucks for the first time in a quite awhile for a conversation focused on the biggest talking points as the Buffalo Bills get ready for Denver in NFL wildcard round playoff action on Sunday. The episode is recorded live from Mooney's Sports Bar & Grill, 1531 Military Road. It's Tone's first time back on the show since the beginning of September before the Bills regular season started and after a few minutes it becomes obvious his intention is to highjack the show, They jump right into a talk surrounding several talking points and important factors as Buffalo readies for another playoff run-when Pucks is in the mood too. Among the topics is discussed at length is coming to the realization that if the Bills are truly Super Bowl contenders, fans and the media shouldn't be TOO concerned about facing a Denver team that while certainly good, hasn't been to the playoffs since 2015 and features a rookie quarterback, something Sean McDermott has historically feasted on. That said it would be shortsighted to not have any concerns. The guys talk about why Denver is clearly the best football team the Bills have faced in the wildcard round during the Josh Allen era and elements of the Bills that can be worrisome, such as being heavily reliant on takeaways with the defense and the tough task of taming a pretty ferocious Denver pass rush. That plus thoughts on McDermott going with Damar Hamlin over Cole Bishop at safety, Matt Milano sitting out the season finale last week, Bills X-factors for the game, a prediction from Tone Pucks and much more. Big thanks again to Mooney's Sports Bar & Grill for being a gracious host as well as great food and vibes. Easily one of the best places to go in the Kenmore/Tonawanda area for a good time. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran’s Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Blue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.social Instagram: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. • Appreciating The Buffalo Bills 2024 Regular Season
    Jan 8 2025
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation for their weekly chat, this week focused on stepping back a little to appreciate the Buffalo Bills 2024 regular season before we get started with the suddenness of the NFL playoffs this weekend. When it gets to be this time of year, your season could end with just one less than stellar afternoon. That's the way it goes in single elimination tournaments. Patrick and Matt spend a good chunk time focusing on making sure to enjoy these past four months for the Buffalo Bills, especially considering what most people thought this campaign would look like for Buffalo. Patrick goes as far to call this one of his most enjoyable seasons following the Bills. To really appreciate the Bills the guys take a look at how the AFC east shockingly crumbled around Buffalo this year, especially with two teams that many thought were better than the Bills going into 2024, Miami and the New York Jets. They discuss how not only was this season brutal for the two but the short term future doesn't appear all that great right now either. From there Matt has plenty of thoughts on Buffalo drawing Denver in the wildcard round. They also talk about Damar Hamlin being named starter by Sean McDermott earlier this week to squash any potential starting safety controversy, thoughts on the rest of the playoffs and plenty more. • Buffalo Bills Biggest Week 18 Takeaways
    Jan 7 2025
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over some of his biggest takeaways from the Buffalo Bills regular season finale loss at New England, even if the game itself actually mean nothing in addition to some preliminary thoughts on Denver as NFL wildcard weekend gets ready to start cooking. It's hard to have significant reaction and takeaways to a game Buffalo played where winning wasn't the biggest concern. There's no reason to pour over All-22 film and overanalyze things that almost certainly will mean nothing for the playoffs. Still, Patrick did watch the game back and comes up with a detailed list of four things he liked and four things he didn't from the game, including an impressive performance from a rookie Patrick thinks just oozes with potential. From there it's immediately onto Denver and Patrick gives some thoughts on a team he doesn't fear but certainly has a lot of respect for. In fact, this could be the best wildcard competition the Bills have faced during the Josh Allen era. That said, Patrick points out some things that make Denver feel Miami Dolphins'ish as well. That plus the New York Jets want to interview Joe Brady and much more. Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. • Bills "Lose" To Pats, Will Face Denver In Playoffs (Live Reactions)
    Jan 6 2025
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for tons of live reactions shortly after the conclusion of the Buffalo Bills regular season finale loss at the New England Patriots, 23-16, though of course the bigger story is they'll be facing Denver next week in the Wildcard round. Sure, Buffalo lost on the scoreboard and fell short of setting an all-time franchise record for regular season wins with 14. However, in "losing" this game they blocked their division rival from having the first overall pick in the 2025 draft. Patrick and Joe have tons of thoughts on New England winning and how they'd feel about it were they Patriots fans. In terms of the game itself the Bills rested several starters and had but a quick cameo from others, including Josh Allen. The guys talk about what and who they liked and didn't like from the game and why. As usual Joe puts zero stock in a game that doesn't mean anything in the standings while Patrick probably puts too much, leading to plenty of bickering. Obviously the big news of the day wasn't whether the Bills would beat New England or not, but who they'd be playing in the first round of the playoffs. That answer is Denver. While most people including Patrick are relieved to not see Cincinnati, the Broncos aren't a team that should be slept on. The guys discuss why, get into yet another heated Josh Allen vs Lamar Jackson for MVP discussion and much more. Follow Joe on Blue Sky @BuffaloWins.bluesky.social. • Bills at Patriots Preview & Bold Predictions
    Jan 3 2025
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran previews the Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots season finale at Foxboro, complete with Bills keys to victory (is there really any "keys" in this game?) as we as bold predictions and more. It's a matchup where the Bills have nothing to lose by losing and New England nothing much (if at all) to gain from winning. That's probably the most intriguing storyline going in. The Bills are locked into the number two seed for the AFC playoffs regardless of how this game plays out while New England is guaranteed the top pick of the 2025 NFL draft if they lose to Buffalo. That said, Patrick still finds things worthy of talking about, mainly what starters will see the field for Buffalo, who should and shouldn't and what kind of lineup we may see on Sunday. Also, Patrick points out that a Bills win would set the all-time franchise record with 14 wins in a season, which may result in them making a more concerted effort to win with their backups. That plus three bold predictions for the game, plenty of thoughts on the announcement of the AFC Pro Bowl roster that included just two Bills and plenty more.
