  • Episode 305: Solo Travel for Women with Joy Huber
    Jan 9 2025
This episode is all about solo travel and how it can help you reconnect with yourself. Whether you're navigating a major life transition, like divorce, or just craving time to focus on your own needs, solo travel could be the adventure you didn’t know you needed. I’m talking with Joy Huber, a solo travel pro with an incredible story. After overcoming stage 4 cancer, Joy decided life was too short to wait for "someday." She packed her bags, took the leap, and now helps women discover the magic of exploring the world on their own. Joy shares her personal journey, plus plenty of real-world tips to help you make your first solo trip safe, stress-free, and genuinely fun. You’ll also hear: Why starting small—like a weekend getaway—can build your confidence for bigger adventures (5:10) Practical safety tips for women, from smart gadgets to group tours that let you ease into solo travel (11:34) Tools and tricks for trip planning, including how to find hidden gems that match your vibe (23:23) How traveling alone can help you reconnect with who you are and what you really want (25:29) Learn more about Joy Huber: Discover the "JOY" of safe & incredible solo travel with Joy Huber. Joy guides women to their own successful travels going alone yet never feeling lonely. As the founder of "Travel with Joy TV," Joy helps women live a life full of freedom and fulfillment. Women tend to outlive men when comparing life expectancy. Knowing this, Joy truly believes the ability to solo travel safely and successfully is a life skill women of every age & stage of life must have. Joy has traveled solo safely, capably navigating multiple challenging safety situations for over two decades. As a successful author & professional speaker, Joy traveled solo often delivering seminars and public speaking in person primarily in the United States before speaking virtually became more common. Through her personal solo travel experience, Joy discovered a number of tips, insider secrets, and inexpensive items that aren’t very well known that she uses to feel confident traveling alone. Joy prioritized traveling solo for fun after receiving a devastating diagnosis of stage 4 cancer in March of 2010. Joy suffered through three years of hard-hitting chemotherapy which caused the complete loss of her shoulder-length hair. Joy realized we’re all a car accident, heart attack or diagnosis away from a completely different life, and she decided she wouldn’t wait until she retired to travel going where she wanted and doing what she wanted. As she’s shared pictures, video & stories from her fun-filled travels she received questions from women on how to travel solo successfully as a woman. Travel with Joy TV was born out of this growing demand for a personal solo travel guide for women! • Featured Episode: Healing from Narcissistic Relationships with Dr. Kerry Kerr McAvoy
    Dec 26 2024
I’m bringing back one of my most impactful conversations with psychologist and writer Dr. Kerry Kerr McAvoy about healing from narcissistic relationships. We unpack the challenges of being in a relationship with someone who has narcissistic personality disorder, the profound impact it can have on your emotional and mental well-being, and actionable strategies for self-nurturing after the relationship ends. We also take a closer look at the common phrase “it takes two to tango” and what it means in the context of unhealthy relationships. If you’re healing from a toxic relationship or want to gain clarity on what healthy love looks like, listen to this episode again or tune in for the first time. What you’ll hear: We explore the phrase “It takes two to tango…” Does it, though, when narcissistic abuse or toxicity is involved in a relationship? Is there anything that you can do to help a narcissistic and abusive partner? The short answer is no. Narcissistic Personality is a disorder. It’s not a mental health condition. Kerry explains the distinction. Focusing on and nurturing yourself back to life is essential in a relationship that has dimmed you. Learn more about Kerry McAvoy: Kerry Kerr McAvoy is a psychologist and a writer who educates on social media about cultivating healthy relationships, deconstructing narcissism, and understanding various other mental health-related issues. Her book, Love You More, gives an uncensored glimpse into the dynamics of narcissistic abuse. This is the equivalent of a personal floatation device if you feel you are drowning in a rip tide, under current

I can not recommend this series enough - for women in the middle of the eye of storm in a divorce, for women who need more knowledge and information in a controlling marriage, and heck, even for women who are engaged and set to marry. Knowledge is power, sharing information makes us (women) go further and be more successful. I wish I had access to this BEFORE my married my spouse...
